This is probably what we call reel to real. The actress who has taken up many challenging roles in her reel life is ready to embrace another one, this time in real life. Her reel-achievements are not little. She holds the distinction of being the first Asian woman to get the Academy Award for Best Actress. Now she is ready to feature herself on the topmost podium once again.

The ace Malaysian actress, after gracing several stages and screens, has set foot on the Olympic arena. International Olympic Committee, The supreme body for all matters related to the Olympics, has recently set the stage for her to descend. 

Sports are a love language

The Malaysian superstar Michelle Yeoh is one of the eight new members named at the IOC session in Mumbai on September 17. Yeoh has been a philanthropist for a while. Apart from that, she has been a goodwill ambassador of UNDP while visiting refugee camps in her capacity. With Jean Todt, her husband and former motorsport chief, she has campaigned internationally for road safety.

Yeoh is excited to get into this new role and talking about the refugee teams she said that the work is cut out for her and she will be using sports as the universal language of love to promote it. Talking exclusively to Olympic.com she said“Sports is something that brings people together. And you can see with the Olympics, it crosses borders, it crosses culture, it crosses language.”  She is excited and said that she hopes that they welcome her to the refugee team and allow her to work together and bring smiles and hope to the millions of refugees.

Excited for the Olympic debut of Squash

Before establishing herself as a superstar in Hong Kong cinema, Michelle Yeoh was an athlete herself and a squash player. She went on to be the junior champion of squash in Malaysia but then later moved to England to pursue a completely different path. As a little kid, she did have the Olympian dream which she gave up as the new career horizons were waiting for her to excel in.

Talking to Olympics.com she said that she is very excited that squash will make the Olympic debut at the Los Angeles Olympics 2028. In the exclusive interview with Olympic.com, she jokingly said, “I think people are going to think it’s me who did it… no, but I’ll take credit!” she is delighted to be a part of the committee.

Her work and philanthropy have always been a part of her and the kindness and love that she will get to share with the refugee team through sports is something that will not only make the organization a better place but also the world.
