Paris is part of the travel bucket list of many people, but it needed a glow-up transformation. As one of the most enchanting cities in the world, the French capital combines creativity, romance, and innovation in equal proportions. However, there’s always scope for improvement and the Paris Olympics 2024 gave the officials a rather marvellous opportunity to undertake the heavy task.

The city has received the honor of hosting the Olympics after a century. Therefore, not just the city officials but regular Parisians are gearing up to showcase the best in European hospitality. Along those lines, one Michelin-starred restaurant has reopened its gates after a complete renovation.

The Tour d’Argent, meaning “Silver Tower” is a 441-year-old culinary institution in the Occidental world. With a 320,000-bottle wine cellar and a few secret recipes, this restaurant is a landmark in itself. However, it was closed for a long time to prepare its pièce de résistance in the form of a complete transformation of its infrastructure. Given its historical significance and the restaurant’s proximity to the elite venue of the Paris Olympics 2024, Tour d’Argent’s reopening captured the world’s attention. KTLA 5 News apprised the potential visitors of the recent development in a Facebook post. They wrote, “The real-life ‘Ratatouille’ restaurant reopens in Paris, offering unparalleled views of the Seine River and Notre Dame”.

The banks of the Seine River would be packed with people on the opening day of the Paris Games owning to the procession of nations on boats. But patrons of Tour d’Argent can relish the pressed duck or the “mystery egg” on the rooftop dining room and still catch the action. Scaffolded in history, the French metropolis has thanked the U.S. and the Olympic committee for their support during the tough time.

Paris expresses gratitude

The reborn Tour d’Argent isn’t the only cultural heritage coming to life before the Paris Olympics 2024. The Notre Dame is also expected to finish reconstruction in time to welcome the visitors. The medieval cathedral caught fire in 2019 and thus began the costly and time-consuming reconstruction work. André Terrail, CEO of the gastronomic powerhouse spoke to the Associated Press and said, “Notre Dame is a landmark and probably had lost a little bit of attention to the Eiffel Tower… After the fire, Notre Dame enjoyed an injection of funding, notably from the U.S”.

Terrail himself began deliberating the Tour d’Argent’s transformation when the restaurant closed due to the COVID-19 restrictions. He said, “COVID in a sense accelerated things, and also the Olympic Games, which are kind of an accelerator for everything in Paris”. Now, he takes pride in providing front-row seats to all his diners for the biggest sporting event in the world.
