In the crowded Sportpaleis arena, the 26-year-old gymnast pulled off one of the most dangerous vaulting moves, the Yurchenko double pike. As she walked away with the vault being named after her (Biles II), praises poured in from across the globe.

However, some praises are a bit more special; especially when they come from family. Adria, who left gymnastics because of constant comparison with Simone, took pride in her sister’s achievements.

Simone Biles’ sister sends a heartwarming tribute

Biles has shown no signs of slowing down since her return to gymnastics. First, she dominated the 2023 Core Hydration Classic, then went on to win the historic eighth national title at the 2023 U.S. National Championships. Fresh off her national victory, Simone Biles set her sights on the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Antwerp.

Her close-knit family is always up cheering for her. Biles’ husband, NFL star Jonathan Owens, expressed his love and admiration for her in a beautiful social media update after Simone made history. In a similar manner, her sister, Adria Biles, cheered for her as she etched her name into the history of gymnastics.

Adria Biles shared Team USA’s post on her Instagram story captioned, “proudest little sister here.” The post from the official Team USA account was pertaining to Simone Biles, adding one more skill bearing her name on the Code of Points. According to the rules, any gymnast performing a new move for the first time in an international competition is liable to rename the move in their name.

The Yurchenko double pike will henceforth be also known as “Biles II” to immortalize her incredible feat. Adria Biles had always stood by her big sister to support her through thick and thin. When the 19-time world champion was getting married to Jonathan Owens, Adria Biles played the role of a bridesmaid to perfection.

When it was time for her to acknowledge Simone Biles’ gymnastics achievement, she did not allow geographical distance to become a factor. As a gymnast herself, Adria Biles is an excellent example of the impressive Biles gene pool.

Adria said ‘No’ to big sister’s shadow

Simone Biles and her sister, Adria, share more in common than just their looks. Adria was also a talented artistic gymnast until she quit in 2016.
