All ice-hockey athletes are aware of the high possibility of grave injuries that may affect their careers in a life-changing manner. Having said that, the NHL often witnesses instances of dreadful clashes and their subsequent injuries. Similarly. Minnesota Wild captain Marcus Foligno fell victim to one of those scenarios.

As per a recent Twitter post, the 31-year-old athlete was seen pinned to the rink floor, yelling in pain. Moments before, he was shot by a puck directly on the inner part of his kneecap by an opponent player. Let’s find out what went down there.

Marcus Foligno gets hit, gets assisted off the ice

As per the social media update, the American right-winger, Foligno, abruptly got into the lane of a shooting puck charging directly at him. The mishap took place on Tuesday’s game against the Florida Panthers. As seen in the video, Panthers’ 42-jersey took a shot at the goal when Foligno’s knee got in the way.

The captain instantly dropped to the ice and, unfortunately, couldn’t get back on his feet. Teammates and medical staff gathered around the player and helped him crawl out of the rink. One Twitter user’s tweet’s caption read, “Marus Foligno needs help off the ice after taking a shot to the inside of the knee. Oof”

Reportedly, this isn’t the first time Foligno got into the puck’s lane. However, his fortitude and commitment to the game are laudable. Moreover, a bizarre NHL fight broke out last month that involved him again. 

3 NHL fights in 15 seconds

As per sources, once, a series of fights broke out in a game between Minnesota Wild and Philadelphia Flyers. Three dreadful scrimmages within a time span of 15 seconds blew the NHL community away. The first brawl resulted between the big guys of the two teams, Ryan Reaves and Nicolas Deslauriers, in the first half. 

Followed by Mason Shaw and Wade Allison going against each other in the corner side. Lastly, Wild’s captain, Marcus Foligno, and Zach McEwen were seen bashing one another. The referee had to intervene in all three of the fights.
