If one is looking for a piece of heaven on earth, one does not need to look beyond equestrian farms. With their vast green pastures and immaculate infrastructure, equestrian estates are the demand of the hour. Recently, Connecticut and the area surrounding it have become a hotspot for some of the most expensive horse farms.
Not long ago, a Ridgefield horse farm sold its property at an astronomical price, making it one of the priciest equestrian farms in the area. And now, another opulent estate has made the market at a monumental asking price, making it one of the most expensive equestrian estates to get listed in Fairfield County.

The RedGate Farm has every amenity an equestrian can ever think of owning. The farm has paddocks, ponds, and barns with 60 stalls. As if that was not enough, the estate is spread over more than 50 acres of land, having an indoor riding ring and treadmills for horses. The property is situated along Poverty Hollow Road, which is to the east of Collis P. Huntington State Park.
The equestrian state is up for grabs and has been listed by Sotheby’s International Realty for just below a price of $15 million in the market. As a result, it has joined the Lost Acre Farm in Warren to become one of the top three most luxurious and expensive properties in the country. The mansion which has been built on the grounds occupies a space measuring 9,000 square yards and is situated on the top of a hill overlooking the grounds.

According to a report by CT Insider, the land was purchased more than 20 years ago by a couple, Bruce and Kimberly Travis, and they put in a fortune for the development of the equestrian estate. Even the trainers at this horse farm are former Olympians, such as Leslie Burr Howard, who was part of a gold-medal-winning team at the 1984 Olympics. This is not the only pricey farm to be located in Connecticut, though.

Connecticut: The land of expensive farms
While the RedGate Farm might be going for a fortune, another Connecticut farm formed the record for the priciest sale as of the year 2023. The Ridgefield farm sold for a final price of $24 million. However, it was initially listed for a whopping $28 million. Before Riedgefield, the 2023 record was held by the Zillow farm, which sold for $13.5 million. RedGate has not only beaten Zillow’s record but a property that sold for almost $22 million in the Greenwich area was also usurped by the horse farm.
The Double H Farm contains a mansion that is spread across 12,000 acres, a level up from RedGate farms. The house contains 5 bedrooms and up to 10 fireplaces. The price for which it sold is already astronomical, so as to say. However, if one can believe it, the farm was initially listed for a sum of $55 million. Subsequently, a price cut made it drop from $55 million to $24 million. Nonetheless, the area seems to have become a mecca for magnificent equestrian farms that are well-equipped.
