The USA men’s wrestling has been on a dominant run at the Pan American Championships for 2024. Across the event lasting four days, the team has emerged triumphant repeatedly to claim a consistent lead on the leaderboard. On the final day at Expo Mundo Imperial Stadium, the men’s roster ensured to tie it off well, going a complete 10 on 10 in the freestyle.

The USA wrestling started off the 4-day event men’s Greco-Roman resulting in all podium-finishes. While Camden Russell kicked off for a silver, Cohlton Schultz concluded the segment with a bronze. Now upping the game a step, men’s freestyle took on the baton for a complete domination.

A pinnacle finish for USA men’s freestyle at Pan American Championships

A total of seven categories presided over the Pan American Championships on the final day of the event. After having secured 3 gold finishes in freestyle on the previous day, wrestlers across 57-65-70-79-92-97-125 kg rosters held the bearing to finish it off. And finished well they did. Spencer Lee for 57kgs kicked off the medal spree when he secured a 12-2 win over Pedro Mejias for a gold, following two wins in the previous bouts. As he set the tone, the next six followed to lend Team USA 10 on 10 and an eventual team title.

The win marked a second consecutive team title win for USA men’s wrestling following their triumph at the Pan American Championships 2023. Across the 10 weight classes, the roster secured 9 gold medal finishes and a bronze by Mark Hall in 86kgs. However, this year, the team ensured to elevate the status, going as they did.

Wrestling stars soar through on the final day

Following Spencer Lee’s excellent execution, Nick Lee took on the baton for 65kg. The Penn State fame, won by injury default over his Argentinian opponent, Agustin Destribats. In the 70kg bout that came next, it was Alec Pantaleo’s chance at glory with an injury default win over Peiman Biabani. After securing two wins in the preceding bouts, Alex Facundo emerged victorious in the 79kg class by the 3rd round. The star took on Mexico’s Jose Cano to go 10-0 for USA’s 4th medal on the 4th day of the 2024 Pan American Championships.

In the 92kg that followed, Nate Jackson pinned Jose Betancourt to claim his gold in Mexico. Kyle Snyder arrived next in 97 kg category to take on Arturo Silot in the final round concluding in a 10-5 win. The 2023 Pan Am Games champion, Mason Parris in 125kg tied off the event well and better when he claimed an injury default win over Jonovan Smith. Thus marking a spectacular end to the Pan American Championships, USA men’s wrestling extended its prominence for the path awaiting ahead.
