The Omaha Supernovas incurred a great start to the month when they swept the San Diego Mojo on Saturday’s match. The team recorded 25-17, 25-18, and 25-22 to post the first victory in the 2024 pro volleyball league. At the CHI Health Center on Wednesday, the two rosters led a five-setter thriller in the presence of a whopping 9 thousand viewers. However, following a see-saw game, the results lent in favor of the Thrills, letting Supernovas drop down to 1-2 in the Pro Volleyball Federation.

It was an evening of firsts for the two rosters entering CHI Health Center on the 7th of Feb. While the Vegas Thrills were starting their pro volleyball season, the Omaha Supernovas entered the court under new interim head coach Laura “Bird” Kuhn. The change arrived following the team’s announcement of previous head coach Shelton Collier being shifted to the role of an advisor to the team. And while it was a successful first for the Thrills, Novas recorded a loss in the deciding set. “We’ll bounce back, NovaNation. Thank you for your support tonight!” the team wrote as 9,076 fans showed up in support.

The Novas held 1-1 on the scorecard with outside hitter Brooke Nuneviller sitting out because of an injury as they took to the courts. But with Paige Briggs, Sydney Hilley, Bethania de la Cruz, Tori Dixon, Jess Schaben-Lansman, Kendall White, and Danielle Hart on board, the Novas ensured a tough fight befitting pro volleyball.

They further continued the momentum onto the third set, flipping Supernovas’ 17-12 lead to 25-20 with a kill from Hannah Maddux. Omaha rose back for the 4th set when they once again took a 17-7 lead. Just when the team on the other side was catching on, Molly McCage’s netted serve resulted in Novas’ win and a deciding 5th set.
