More than 25,000 runners, including Olympians, Paralympians, and professional competitors aiming for a spot in the Paris 2024 Games, are gearing up for the 2024 United Airlines NYC Half. The event is scheduled for Sunday, March 17, with the track route from Brooklyn to Manhattan, finishing in Central Park. Among those competing, Kenyan-born American Hillary Bor, a two-time U.S. Olympian, is preparing to make his half marathon debut.

At 34, Hillary Bor is more than just an Olympian; he is a steeplechase phenomenon and the third-fastest American steeplechaser in history. Interestingly, with his debut in the half marathon, Bor is looking forward to adding more accolades to his already impressive resume. Along similar libes, on 22nd February, Bor appeared on the ‘Citius Mag’ podcast and pulled off the curtains from the news of his United NYC Half participation.

Following this, ‘Citius Mag’ took to their X handle to share the news. Captioning the post, they penned, Last year, he ran 46:11 at the Cherry Blossom 10 Mile to get under Greg Meyer’s American record of 46:11. He also ran 46:06 at the 2022 U.S. 10-Mile Championships in Minnesota but that course is not eligible for record setting.”

The post further read, “He has previously given thought to the potential of the 59:43 American record when he chooses to focus on the roads full-time. Bor still has unfinished business on the track… aiming for his third Olympic team.” Bor could not compete in last year’s U.S. championships due to a foot issue, although he still ran 8:11.28. As Bor takes on the 13.1-mile challenge at the NYC Half, the men’s open category will have promising contenders who recently qualified at the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials.
