In the women’s 100m freestyle event of the 2023 US Open Swimming Championship, Siobhan Haughey clinched the gold medal. As per the latest update, she took 52.94 to bag the title. The latest tweet from SwimSwam Live reported that her nearest opponent, Torri Huske clocked 53.17 to overcome Abbey Weitzeil. In the Greensboro arena, Siobhan Haughey appeared as the favorite already. On the previous occasion of this year, the 2020 Olympics medalist recorded her fastest time in the 100 m freestyle. She chose the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup platform to register her achievement. On that day, Siobhan’s 52.92 clocking put her in the third position in the all-time list of the event. However, this year’s US Open Swimming Championship also saw her earn some other achievements.

Siobhan has earned 200m free and 100 m breaststroke in Greensboro
Previously, Siobhan Haughey pulled a stunner in the US Open Swimming Championship 2023. She won both the 200 free and 100 breaststroke in a gap of several minutes. Siobhan Haughey also managed to go past the ultimate favorite, Katie Ledecky, in one of those meets to see herself as the winner. In 200m free, Siobhan Haughey put Katie Ledecky under pressure when she took the lead over Katie midway. Later, Siobhan’s 1:54.20 glittered over Katie’s 1:56.29. The timing is set to be the US Open Swimming record in the event. But Siobhan’s best came in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Her 1:53.92 gave her the silver medal on that occasion.

In the 100m breaststroke, Siobhan Haughey defeated Lydia Jacoby, reigning Olympic champion in the US Open Swimming Championship this year. That event marked her personal best in the event, 1:06.05.
