She is the world record holder for women’s discus, throwing the disc at 76.80 meters, or 251 feet 11 inches. Reinsch represented East Germany in the 1988 Olympic Games. It makes her one of the most iconic female athletes of all time. Her record stands more than six feet ahead of the second-place record in discus throw. In the world record of the top 10, Gabriele Reinsch is one of the six German discus throwers holding a record.


While Reinsch’s mind-boggling throw is widely cherished, it has remained unchallenged. History tells us that Gabriele Reinsch’s world record discus throw has endured for 35 years. Due to this athletes have expressed concern over their prowess, and what it takes to beat the record.

American Olympic athlete, Reginald Jagers, who specializes in discus throw tools to the post commented, “Smh.” Abbreviation for shaking my head, it is an incredulous expression offering disbelief over Reinsch’s record while simultaneous concern for witnessing top athletes break this record.

Hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, Reginald Jagers reached the pinnacle of success in discus throw during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. He represented Team USA and secured the 19th position. He has won various positions and accolades including being a 5-time All-American, NACAC & Pan American Games bronze medalist. He also won gold during the 2017 Summer Universiade. Reginald Jagers joined the army to serve his country in November 2022.
