The 2024 Winter Cup, starting off the Olympic year for gymnastics, had unexpected twists in store for the eager enthusiasts. While many of the anticipated names announced withdrawal closer to the event and Suni Lee’s much-awaited comeback did not yield the desired results, one of the newer stars rose to captivate and stun the spectators on the seat’s edge: Kayla DiCello.
Kayla DiCello has often made her presence known, either by clinching bronze in Worlds 2021 or as an all-around champion at the 2023 Pan Am Games. However, today the 20-year-old blazed through as she left behind notable rivals to claim the gold in all around for 56.850. And as she makes up the current discussions in the gymnastics community, here’s a look at the gymnast’s support in the journey.
All about Kayla DiCello’s parents: Ethnicity, nationality, and more

Kayla DiCello stands to adorn multiple ethnicities, courtesy of her parents’ origins. The gymnast’s mom, Kecia DiCello comes from Germany. Her father, Matt DiCello is known to be of Italian origins. The roots, hence mixed with American heritage make Kayla an Italian, German, and American descent. Together, Kayla’s parents brought up her and her three siblings in Boyds, Maryland, where Matt DiCello works in the hospitality industry.

According to reports and his LinkedIn profile, Matt is an experienced asset manager and a certified public accountant. The hospitality industry has been his domain for well over two decades and currently serves as the vice president of asset management at Starwood Capital Group. However, not much is known about Kayla DiCello’s mother. As for her siblings, the parents’ early involvement in their interests has pushed the four to attain a good path.

Kayla Di Cello’s gymnast sisters
Kayla has two sisters named Kyra and Karleigh and a brother named Hunter. The Pan Am champion’s parents enrolled all three of the sisters at Hill’s Gymnastics at a young age. Following up on the interest, while Kayla secured a scholarship to Florida, Karleigh went to West Virginia where she is a class of 2024. “Proud sister,” Kayla DiCello wrote when Karleigh signed with the West Virginia gymnastics program. Further along, Karleigh is also reported to have contested in the Laurie Hernandez Champions Challenge.

As for the youngest, Kyra, she is a level 10 gymnast and a Nastia Liukin Cup participant. Kyra will be graduating high school in 2027. The brother, Hunter, is said to be a basketball player attending the University of Alabama. Hunter is also pursuing a degree in finance and is known to be involved in charity events. The siblings can often be seen cheering each other on, presenting the many situations that place them on shared path of mutual success.
