Simone Biles, the gymnastic prodigy, went on to set the mat ablaze at the US Women’s World Team Selection Camp. At Katy, Texas, the 26-year-old earned an all-around total of 55.700. The Selection Camp seemed a prelude to the upcoming World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, asserting Biles’ anticipated power pact displays. Even with a setback in the beginning, the reigning all-around champion picked up pace soon. However, according to her, there’s more to gymnastics apart from the competition.

In an interview with USA Gymnastics at the Selection Camp, Simone Biles was up for a hearty discussion. Clad in orange gym wear, she shed some light on the backstage life of the gymnasts. Especially how some gymnasts enter the arena with a preconceived notion and get proven wrong instantly.

After earning a direct spot for the US team at the World Championships, Biles heaved a sigh of relief. That’s because her commencement wasn’t as great. Without much delay, Biles made her triumphant comeback demonstrating her gymnastic prowess. Besides the nail-biting anxiety of the National team selections, gymnasts usually engage in fun-filled stress relievers at the gym.

Besides being ecstatic about returning to Antwerp a decade later, Biles said, “The amount of girls that have gone on scholarships, the amount of girls that we have on the National team really comes together. But not just Artistic Gymnastics. We also have trampoline and tumbling, and I think, all of us together in that gym in that atmosphere, it really pushes everybody. I think it’s fun.” Biles also said that girls enter the gym with pre-believed concepts and she is the first one to break those. They would ask, “I didn’t know what to expect.” The 26-year-old would say in response, “What do you think we’re robots? Half the time we’re goofing off!”?

The mental health advocate to compete at Worlds

On a record sixth World Championships team, Biles clinched a spot, proceeding to work her magic in Belgium next month. Owing to her infamous ‘twisties‘ and joining the mental health awareness tribe, she had proved herself time and again. In a discreet interview with Olympics.com, Biles said, “See for me, that was the hardest part because speaking out on mental health, I knew that I could have the possibility of becoming an advocate for that. But it wasn’t my goal. It’s not what I really wanted.” Cruising past all the hardships, her not-so-overwhelming routine secured her spot at the Nationals team again.
