Sportpaleis witnessed some historic moments of Simone Biles. The 4X Olympic gold medalist justified her title ‘GOAT’ with her 6th World Title claim. Tying herself with Japan’s Uchimara Kohei, the 26-year-old clocked a total of 58.399. Leading the six-member women’s roster, Biles also led the US Team to victory on the Team Finals day. Not only that, she also got her highly-anticipated skill named after her, Biles II, after a near-perfect YDP routine. As she goes on to add more accolades to her name, her friendship with her teammates never fails to stand out.

Shilese Jones, the 21-year-old artistic gymnast, proved herself time and again. Back to the global podium as the 2022 all-round silver medalist, Jones clocked a grand 56.935 in the qualifiers itself. Moreover, the level-pegging competitors, Jones and Biles, share a bond beyond the gymnastics mat.

The 2022 World all-around silver medalist clinched an all-around bronze with a 56.332. As the team called it “Black girl magic”, the podium looked bright in blue sequined leotards. FIGymanstics took to their ‘X’ handle to post an adorable video featuring the two artistic greats embracing each other. The post reads, What a night, @USAGym.” As beautiful as they looked, Simone Biles’s smile from ear to ear melted more hearts.

Moreover, besides Biles nominating her YDP title name this season, Jones also trailed behind with her individual skill name.

Jones missed her triple L name

Like Simone, Jones also submitted a skill name for herself. She filled out the paperwork to add the triple L to her name, hoping to achieve it this time. Despite Simone’s success in getting the element YDP name Biles II, Shilese’s situation was a little tricky. Shilese had to perform the Triple L while maintaining a triple rotation with the leg supported horizontally on the floor exercise. Moreover, the 21-year-old, who performed gracefully at the American Championships, fell short at the World Championships in 2023. She fell slightly while doing her dance, but ended with a double tuck. Though her effort earned the 21-year-old a total score of 13.400, it was not enough. Ranking her fifth overall behind Dutch gymnast VISSER Naomi, Jones lost her golden chance.
