Suni Lee has filled her golden purse with several laurels. But when the Hmong decent athlete was girding up for a remarkable Olympic gateway season, she faced a setback. The 20-year-old, who made fans swoon over her all-around gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, traveled back to elite gymnastics in 2023. But she opted out for non-gymnastics related issues, despite securing her name at the World Championships Selection event.
Earlier in 2023, the 20-year-old was diagnosed with a rare kidney issue. While she’s still trying to handle her health concerns, Lee keeps her fans updated. Recently, the Minneapolis native sought solace in her healing journey.
Suni Lee has a cryptic message

As per her Instagram story, the 20-year-old shared a photo of a book page, which had a three-lettered message. The quote read, “pray. wait. trust.” The original post was on the page named 11:08am, which is a passionate writer’s paradise. They captioned the carousel of quotes as “from my book “GOD ALWAYS DID” available on amazon through the link in my bio.”

Some of the quotes went like “God is fixing the situation you are stressing about“, and “I’m at peace with God’s plans and timing what’s for me will be for me.” The artistic gymnast who couldn’t “fit into any clothes“ as a result of weight gain looks better now. In March 2023, when she had the scariest revelation, she used to wake up swollen on most days.
But now, “I haven’t had a really bad day in a while,’’ has ignited hope in fans’ hearts. For a gymnast of such a measure, who made her way through the flips with a swollen body, had clinched the balance beam bronze at the 2023 US National Championships. But her mindful decision to sit out of the World Championships opened the Olympic door.

Lee on the 2024 Paris Olympics
The strong-willed youngster is an epitome of determination. She’s still dodging bad days while trying to live her best. She recently said, “We’re still working on trying to figure out how to balance all of it because I do have good days and bad days.” Lee was raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, where the 2024 Olympic trials would be held. So, the 2024 Paris Olympics will be one of the closest events in Lee’s career.
