The gymnastic world just witnessed Simone Biles clinch her 6th all-round world title on Friday. However, some worthy competitors accentuated Biles’s winning streak with some thrilling displays. With a very convincing six-member roster, the US team had topped the scoreboard in team finals with 167.729. Among them, the 21-year-old artistic gymnast made sure that she strengthened her individual ground, leaving Simone devastated.

After a nail-biting uneven bars display, the GOAT received a major blow. Not standing anywhere close to earning a medal, the 26-year-old handed over the win to Shilese Jones. Moreover, the results also assert Biles’s first loss at the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championship.

The 4X Olympic gold medalist, with 33 medals all-over in Worlds and Olympics, didn’t foresee a fifth finish after all. To this, FIGymanstics had posted the final scores with Shilese Jones placed on the third. The post reads, “Uneven Bars final at #ARTWorlds2023: Qiu Qiyuan – 15.100, Kaylia Nemour – 15.033, Shilese Jones – 14.766.”

Striking gold in all-around with 58.399, she was atop her Belgium game after a decade. Moreover, she also tied herself with Japan’s Uchimara Kohei after taking six all-around crowns. However, Jones, the 2022 silver medalist at the World Championship, proved herself worthy again. On the other hand, Biles faltered in her signature routine.

Biles’ Yurchenko fault

Biles delivered the Yurchenko double pike, now known as the Biles II, as the first gymnast up in the women’s vault competition. However, she rolled backward with too much force, losing one point. Furthermore, she lost another due to her coach’s presence to keep a watchful eye. Rebeca Andrade of Brazil had a chance to win the gold as a result of the deductions. Though she last went last, Andrade produced two great vaults to take first place. Despite her major blunder, Andrade’s average score of 14.750 just beat Biles’ (14.549), who took home silver.
