When Jonathan Owens saw that Simone Biles had a “bunch of followers”, he knew she was the “real deal”. Having right-swiped each other on the dating app Raya, Owens wasn’t cognizant of what he was signing up for. Fast forward to now, the NFL safety has gotten the taste of immense public attention on account of his wife’s popularity. But the 28-year-old wishes to steal his wife from her fans sometimes.

On April 22, 2023, the athletic couple tied the nuptial knot three years after matching on Raya. And, their journey has been nothing short of amazing since then. The husband, who’s facing backlashes for being under the shadow of Biles, got approached by the Olympian herself. “And the rest is history”. But Owens has an uncalled-for complaint.

Simone Biles’ husband gets annoyed with fan attention

The power duo appeared on ‘The Pivot Podcast’, which acted as one of their bonding moments. While disclosing some unknown secrets and talking about several things, the husband sighed that people sometimes forget that they “are human too”. When the interviewer asked about his navigation strategies, he said, “We wanna have a good time and relax”. Moving on, he also said about fans following them to a restaurant for pictures, where he “just got annoyed.”

“She’s a lot nicer than me” was what Owens said while accolading his wife’s calm demeanor. While being the centre of attention herself, the Olympian helped her husband “transition into the spotlight”. Fans approaching her never got in her head. Even when she cheered on her husband on the Lambeau Field, she prioritized him over public attention.

But Jonathan Owens’ approach to handling the media is now receiving commendation. He mentioned being a regular NFL player before meeting Simone Biles, especially according to his wife, who expresses a desire to be known by his name in the future.

“He is one hell of a safety. But he is never going to be as good a safety as this one (Biles) is going to be at the gym” was what Randolph Channing Crowder Jr remarked. But the reply that followed was not what he expected to hear. On the podcast, when a slight comparison between the duo’s fame surfaced, Simone Biles’ answer went like, “You know what, he might. Because the other day I said, you know what, in a couple of years, nobody is going to call him, Simone Biles’ husband. They’ll call me Jonathan Owens’ wife.”
