Laurie Hernandez, the member of ‘Final Five’  at the 2016 Rio Olympics, has enough reasons to collect praise. Though she failed to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, her name still resonates. But the children’s book She’s Got This author has a special place for the kids in her heart.

KPMG US, a platform where people get an opportunity to thrive in their careers, is one of the top professional service firms. To amp up their programs and extend the business realm, the firm crowned Laurie Hernandez as the KPMG Learning Ambassador. While she assisted the students to unlock their potential, an insightful post surfaced.

One of the main highlight of KPMG is the firm has created a series of virtual trips. And none other than Laurie Hernandez is showing the kids around for enlightenment. According to their Instagram post, the caption read, “Last month, in collaboration with @American_Heart to celebrate the #KidsHeartChallenge, our KPMG Learning Ambassador & Olympic gold medalist, @LaurieHernandez joined 120 5th graders in Queens, NY.”

In the video, Laurie Hernandez voiced, “…this school is one of the beneficiaries from the KPMG sponsorship.” Further on, she added that the program focuses on providing the schools with resources and materials. These will further help the students understand and maintain their own physical and mental health. Immediately after, glimpses from the session surfaced, where Hernandez was spotted spending quality time with the kids.

Though there were other fellow speakers and advisors, the Olympian had a pivotal role to play. Moreover, she even engaged with the students in fun activities. KPMG has an entire segment dedicated to the heart, which Laurie and her friends lead with self-reflection exercises, and mental and physical exercises. Having said so, Laurie had involved herself in child-related endeavors earlier in 2023.

Hernandez’s role in UNICEF

According to June 30, 2023’s report, UNICEF had lauded the Olympian for her benign actions. As the then new ambassador of UNICEF, she traveled across UNICEF USA and USA Panama to look more closely at how the children were benefiting from the body. Landed in Panama’s Darién province to hear the stories of the children navigating through the Darién jungle to reach the Lajas Blancas TMRS.

The main reason behind these people toiling is the need for a better of a life. So, when UNICEF decided to provide a safe cocoon for them, Hernandez focused on providing mental health advocacy.

Hailing from a family of therapists, the 23-year-old has been learning about the importance of mental health since she was a child. Now, she even extends her support to family, friends, and the world.
