Simone Biles, the undefeatable force, made history on the Antwerp ground once again. Securing a remarkable 58.399, the GOAT earned her all-round World Title after a two-year hiatus. Owing to her ‘Twisties’, the 4X Olympic gold medalist missed out on the thrilling World Championships. She made her comeback and earned the win to avenge Shilese Jones’ 2022 World Silver. In Simone’s absence, a Brazilian artistic gymnast had utilized the golden opportunity last year.
Rebeca Andrade, the 2022 World all-round champion, got shifted to silver this year with a 56.766. Despite her strong beginning and smooth landings, the 2022 World floor bronze medalist handed over her golden chance to the GOAT this year. However, the latter confessed that competing alongside such a prolific gymnast like Rebeca was nothing but magical.

Simone Biles’ worthy competition
Heath Thorpe, the 23-year-old Australian gymnast, got intrigued to know about Simone’s ongoings. For a gymnast of such a measure, any fan or follower would be curious about pre-event and post-event views. Similarly, Thorpe jumped in to engage in a one-on-one chat with Simone after her historical wins. Gymanstics Now shared the video with the caption, “She discussed her overall feelings, competing with Rebeca Andrade and her wish for the sport.”

When asked “How’s about competing with Rebecca?”, she immediately emitted her sportsmanship spirit in her answer. Without a flinch, she said, “Yeah, I love competing with Rebecca. She does push me, she makes me wanna stick on my landings and all of the things, and she’s a phenomenal gymnast. I hope she keeps going and going and hopefully see more from her at the podium.”?

Crediting Andrade for making her feel the heat of the competition, Simone and her rival were just neck-to-neck at every point. It was anybody’s game until Biles made her worth count. But a misstep cost the 26-year-old a gold.
Simone lost to Andrade
After getting her fifth skill named as Biles II, Simone’s signature YDP asserted a gold finish. However, on the second-last leg, a little misstep landed a silver in her arms. In the good game of gymnastics, every minute counts. Simone, after falling victim to an unfortunate minute, landed the vault silver, whereas Andrade landed the gold. Just a little over-rotation of her YDP cost her deduction alongside another deduction due to Laurent’s presence. Interestingly, the 24-year-old pulled off a clean double twisting Yurchenko, after securing 15.000 on her first vault.

As the event progressed, Biles’ not-so-strong uneven bars routine placed her fifth. Not losing hope, she made a laudable comeback to etch her name in history on the last day. As she won the all-round Floor and Balance Beam title, she set her sight to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
