The US women’s gymnastics team for the Paris Olympics is a topic of greater excitement amongst the fans. With Simone Biles, Suni Lee, Gabby Douglas, and more on the potential list, fans await a roster no less of a spectacle. And while fans continue to bet their guesses, the icons have been only building on the anticipation with frequent updates and insights. This time around, the baton was with Gabby Douglas.

Gabby Douglas has contributed much to US gymnastics and herself as a 2-time Olympian and 2012 all-around champion. However, following her 2016 Rio success, the gymnast had been quiet for a few years, only to announce a glistening comeback mid-last year. However, despite having missed the 2024 NTC, Gabby’s march for victory in the Paris Olympics seems robust and well-founded, backed by her impressive routines.

Douglas announced her return to the sport in July last year and has constantly updated fans on practice sessions ever since. On the 19th of January, the gymnast’s Instagram post was dedicated to the said pattern. Two sets of curious side eyes made it to Gabby’s Instagram story as she reshared a clip from Inside Gym. The Olympian was filmed on the beam initially and further on the bars with little support from the trainer on the side. Precision and agility all seemed on the mark for Douglas as she performed her flips.

Coming back to the grounds 6 years after a break wasn’t an easy feat for the 3-time Olympic gold medalist. “It’s a Thursday, and I’m so tired [laughs]. But we gonna push through, we’re gonna do it,” Gabby remarked in one of her earlier posts. However, following clear hours of practice, gymnastics excellence is back on the book for the gymnast. For Gabby Douglas who walked against fears for her return to the sports, the update shines a brighter light.

A will to find joy

In July Gabby took to her Instagram to confirm the talks around her gymnastics return. The Olympian revealed that she had taken the time off to reflect and find herself where it all began. Stating that she did not want to carry on the anger, pain, sadness, or regret any longer, Gabby was looking to find joy.

“I wanted to find the joy again for the sport that I absolutely love doing,” Douglas added. “I know I have a huge task ahead of me, and I am beyond grateful and excited to get back out on the floor.” Though further gymnastics schedule remains unclear for Gabby, the Winter Cup initially and the Paris Olympics eventually remain as speculations.
