After taking time off to focus on mental health, the gymnast will officially be making a comeback on 24th Feb at the Winter Cup. To get there, the gymnast had to push through the practice she stayed out of for 7 years. “I’m so tired [laughs]. But we gonna push through, we’re gonna do it,” said Douglas in one of her Instagram stories. The gymnast revealed to get to practice no matter the challenges it posed.
“It’s had its ups and downs, but I’m not done pushing the boundaries,” she wrote, announcing her return. The gymnast has previously incurred the lows of the sport with the many injuries and adversities. However, for Gabby Douglas ‘falling and getting back up without quitting is a winner,’ and she continues to stand by. Her stance and resilience through the year have stood to highlight the force she carries and is ready to set upon the world around her.

Gymnastics world to find its flying squirrel
By age 20, Gabby Douglas had gold in the Olympics, World Championships, Pacific Rim, and the American Cup. Her excellence through the moments was presented by her skills on the uneven bars and standing full-on beam. Gabby’s ability to gain height when releasing the bars got her the tag of ‘flying squirrel’ which continues to stick by today. Furthermore, the gymnast has also secured an element to her name, the ‘Douglas’ which has been successfully performed by a handful of athletes.

The captivating presence of Gabby Douglas has the gymnasts and enthusiasts awaiting her return. “What we have been waiting for,” gymnastics coach DeAvera Todd commented on one of Gabby’s posts. It was further followed by Team USA, Nastia Liukin, Jackson Harrison, Trinity Thomas, and numerous more, rooting the 28-year-old to step back on the competitive mats. To fans’ excitement, Gabby announced she is “definitely’ eyeing Paris Olympics. With everything she has to offer, the gymnast can easily fetch a place for herself on the roster and in many heart she already has.
