However, the cyclist champion recently admitted that “timing” played a key factor in his journey back to stardom. How? Let us find out.
Lance Armstrong credits “modern times”
Armstrong, who was once known as the iconic cyclist, was ripped off all seven Tour de France and his “positive” fame after he was found guilty in a doping case. The investigation found that the Cancer survivor had been on consuming drugs throughout his career.
The doping case harmed the former cyclist’s life and led to his downfall. However, in recent years, the former athlete has again come into the limelight with his famous “THEMOVE” and “The Forward” podcasts and other social media presence. During his recent chat with Joe Pompliano, Armstrong credited “timing” as the key factor to his redemption story.
He stated, “If my story would have happened 10 or 20 years prior, [it would have been] on toast.” Talking more on this, Armstrong also explained how he would have never made a comeback if this had happened a few years ago. “You’re just sitting around you’re like, ‘Is ESPN ever gonna call one day and want me to talk about the tour? Is CNN?‘ I don’t know who’s gonna call, but you are waiting on a call,” clarified the cyclist.
Armstrong also discussed, how modern times have made oneself self-dependent, which made Armstrong start his own podcast. He said, “We live in a day and age just like we’re doing right now. You buy these lights, the mics, and the camera, and anybody can create content. Without the fact of that, I would have been completely f***ed.”
Notably, Armstrong’s podcasts are doing well among his fans and audience and are loved by many.
