Despite Shiffrin’s best efforts, Petra Vlhová, the Slovakian who won the gold medal in the slalom at the 2022 Winter Olympics, took first place in the opening round. According to FIS, Shiffrin finished in third place, behind German skier Lena Dürr. Recovering from her fresh injury and back to the snowy haven has now added to her challenge from a reindeer victory.
“You really don’t need to be immune to fear in order to do amazing things in your career and life,” wrote Mikaela on her Instagram this Thursday. Until last year, Shiffrin’s distinguished reputation saw a dramatic decline characterized by a string of failures. She had to miss a lot of World Cup tournaments due to her father’s tragic death, a crippling back ailment, and a positive COVID-19 test. Later, during the 2022 Winter Olympics, she was disqualified from three races, including the slalom, her specialty. Despite the mounted pressure, she came off as “humbled” while setting sights on the next significant goals!

Major victories awaiting Shiffrin
With an almost flawless record, Shiffrin keeps pushing the envelope of greatness on her inspirational trek down the slopes. Her remarkable track record on the Levi Black course is noteworthy; in 13 starts, she has only missed the podium twice (in 2014 and 2020), winning six times. Sun and Lorax joined the ranks of Rudolph (2013), Sven (2016), Mr. Gru (2018), and Ingemar (2019) last year highlighted by the American sports body on Twitter(X) yesterday. Despite the heavy weight of Shiffrin’s impressive winning record hanging over the season, she is driven to do more.
