Mikaela’s luck in the recent Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup took a stumble as Slovakian Petra Vlhova took the top spot at the Giant Slalom in Levi. However, with her father’s memory close by, Mikaela can look for inspiration from her family to get back on track.

Shiffrin holds dear a heartwarming gift from sister in law

In her latest Instagram story, Shiffrin posted how she treasures a special gift from her brother- and sister-in-law. The two-time Olympic gold-medalist can be observed getting a lump in her throat talking about her late father as she reveals the unique gift as something she can’t live without. The artefact in question here is a locket necklace has gifted the skier for this year’s Christmas. The Insta story is a snippet from a recent interview of Mikaela with GQ.

Shiffrin revealed that see lost her father’s ring that she kept with herself after his passing. She shot a rather sentimental and poignant gaze at the amulet, perhaps being nestled in the memory of her late father. This understandably made the Olympian morose, but her sister-in-law’s thoughtful gift helped her deal with the loss. The locket necklace can be opened to reveal two tiny photo frames within, that Mikaela put to good use to immortalize her father’s memory.

At this year’s world championships, Mikaela was seen wearing the same necklace around her neck. During the award ceremony, the gold-medalist also snapped the locket open to display photos of her father to the world with an evident pride on her face. The recent interview was sanguine and Mikaela revealed more cherished items like a pair of Adidas Superstars and her car keys as crucial things that she always likes to keep close by. She is also killing in on the professional front.

Shiffrin: a conduit of acclaim

Recently, Shiffrin secured her record 90th World Cup win. This was also her 55th Slalom World Cup title. However, Shiffrin’s recent luck at the Alpine Ski World Cup prompted the GOAT to seek tips from Canadian skier Valerie Grenier, who secured her first World Cup GS win earlier this year.
