Iranian bodybuilder, Hadi Choopan seized the show, stripping the 2x former champion of his third Mr. Olympia title. In an interview excerpt shown by a YouTube channel called Nick’s Power and Strength, Steve Weinberger was resolved to clear the air once and for all. So, why did Big Ramy lose? Let’s see what Steve has to say.
Head Judge Steve Weinberger’s take on Big Ramy’s performance
The YouTube channel Nick’s Power and Strength displayed an interview snippet of Terrick El Gundy with Steve Weinberger, and Robert Cicherillo where they led a discussion on the disappointing presentation of former Mr. Olympia. The interview began with a head-on question from Terrick to Steve asking him what went wrong with Mamdouh Elssbiay A.K.A Big Ramy and the reason for his loss. However, the head judge didn’t stutter and got back with a prompt response.

“That was very disappointing. His legs were not what they should’ve been, his back wasn’t what he should’ve been. His condition was off, his body parts were off,” Steve stated. Additionally, Robert suggested Ramy might be done with competing. Inevitably, Weinberger’s reply might be justified to fans since the athlete was expected to win.
According to reports, Mamdouh posted a minute-long video on his Instagram, flexing his robust physique that was from just a week before the competition commenced. Surprisingly, this video came out after a week before the finals, where the Egyptian bodybuilder finished as the 5th runner-up. Apart from that, Ramy’s defeat sparked a lot of probable theories and reasoning to substantiate his loss.
Reasons for Big Ramy’s disappointing finish
The 38-year-old bodybuilder had been guarding his title for two consecutive years (2020-2021). Hence, the shock that his defeat brought upon fans and judges can be construed as only natural. “Honestly, it did not look like the Ramy of 2020, more of the Ramy in 2021 just even in worser condition in 2021. He came down even worse in 2021.” Steve added. Even so, Ramy decided to stay low-key on this topic and chose not to speak publicly about anything related to it.
