“Not All Kids Play Sports”: Netizens Stand Divided as Perry County Gets a Massive Development Project Plan Approved

Sports are an inextricable part of our lives. Even if it is about watching sports or playing sports, most people have some connection with it. Recently, Perry County, Pennsylvania, got a massive development plan approved which might change the direction of sports in that region. Perry County KY Fiscal Court let their citizens know about the project through a Facebook post on their official accounts. Although the sporting future of the county looks bright with this project, the netizens aren’t completely satisfied with the same.

In the Facebook post, they shared the plan in details with a map and captioned all the informations on the post. However, as the people from Perry County grasped the information, they revealed their contrasting reactions to the upcoming project.

Sports are great, but are they a priority?

The Fiscal Court announced that they have acquired a property located by “East Perry Elementary School to develop a state-of-art Sports Complex.” Further, they described the construction plan they have visioned for the upcoming sports complex of the county. According to the post, the complex will consist of six baseball fields and three football fields, which will also be used as soccer fields. Other than that, it will also consist of a track for track and field, and six tennis courts, which will also include pickle ball. The list doesn’t end there. It also includes two basketball courts, a couple of playgrounds, a sensory playground, putt-putt golf, a batting cage, picnic shelters scattered about, and parking.

Even though the County has prepared an incredible plan for the future of sports, people of the county didn’t seem to completely agree with this decision. As a result, several people reacted to the post with skeptic comments, where a few liked the vision, and a few criticized it. Let us find out what the people of the county have in mind.

“This will be huge for tourism. We need to move on this as fast as possible. Any parent who has a kid in travel ball spends a fortune on hotels, restaurants, etc. Having this in Perry Co can seriously be a game changer.”

“Sports are good but so are things like aquariums, science museums that are interactive, or maybe something like an indoor water park that can be used all year.”

“What about a movie theatre, a skating rink, indoor recreation to do in the winter, maybe a trampoline park. Not all kids play sports and don’t get me wrong this is nice but not for every kid. The Perry county park is the designated areas for baseball and a playground right now and it hasn’t been taken care of at all! If this area had been taking care of we wouldn’t need a new area like your building. Sorry just my opinion and everyone has one.”

“This is wonderful but we need something to do for the kids that don’t play sports. What about a bowling’s lot or a movie theater? Not everything needs to be focused on sports.”

“What a waste. I can think of so many other needs for this county. Water system upgrade would be wonderful, but by all means let’s worry about ballgames first.”

“You can’t even keep water lines functioning. How are you gonna handle all this upkeep?”

The citizens might have their critical opinion about the project, but the Fiscal Court has the vision to make it a massive tourist-attracting arena in the future. According to reports, the construction will be done gradually as the funds come in. However, once it gets fully constructed, they see it as a huge development source for the county.
