31-year-old Viktor Arvidsson arrived as a seasoned veteran in Edmonton. After spending 10 seasons with two NHL teams, the right-winger became an expensive acquisition for the Oilers, costing the team $4 million annually. However, despite spending over a decade in the NHL, we know very little about the Swedish player’s net worth.

Thankfully, that’s not the case with the NHL forward’s career earnings, and that may give us a clue. The Edmonton Oilers star has earned $34.97 million throughout his decade-long career in the National Hockey League. Starting with the Nashville Predators in 2014, the 31-year-old had a brief stint with the Los Angeles Kings before joining the Edmonton Oilers in the 2024-25 season.

Despite spending most of the 2023–24 season recovering from an injury and playing only 11 matches, Arvidsson retained his value. The Edmonton team signed Arvidsson to a two-year contract worth $8 million, with an annual average value (AVV) of $4 million. Not too shabby for a 31-year-old veteran. As per Spotrac, the contract will take his total career earnings to $38.97 million by the end of the 2025–26 season.

However, there’s more to Viktor Arvidsson’s net than just the base salary, as the former Predators’ star stands to earn additional bonuses. Unfortunately, this makes guessing Arvidsson’s true net worth quite difficult. A further lack of information on his assets makes it even more difficult. While a 2018 Nashville Post report revealed that the 31-year-old bought a $1,975,000 house near Cheekwood Botanical Gardens in Nashville, it’s unclear whether the hockey player still owns it.

Meanwhile, it’s also crucial to remember that career earnings do not directly translate to net worth. Forbes estimates Arvidsson’s teammate Connor McDavid, the third highest-paid NHL player, is worth $16 million as of the final quarter of 2024. With that said, it’s safe to say that Viktor Arvidsson’s net worth is in the millions. Yet, there was a lot more than a lucrative contract that led Arvidsson to join the Oilers.

The 31-year-old forward didn’t hesitate to put pen to paper when the Oilers came knocking. “I’m happy to be an Oiler, and it’s going to be really fun,” he said on July 1, 2024, after signing the contract. However, there was a good reason behind his joy. While Arvidsson had never played for the Oilers, he had a close friend on the roster who helped Arvidsson make up his mind.

And that close friend was Oilers defenseman Mattias Ekholm. “I’ve known ‘Ekky’ for a long time, and our families know each other well, and he convinced me pretty early and I think that was a big part of it too, and I’m happy, and our family is happy too,” Viktor Arvidsson said. However, the NHL veteran’s first season with the Oilers has gotten off to a slow start.

Despite appearing in 37 games, Arvidsson has scored only 6 goals, the same number of goals he had scored for the Kings in just 18 games last year. He has also notched only 11 assists so far. Then again, the Oilers themselves seemed to have hit a rough patch. So, only time will tell how much success the 31-year-old finds with the Oilers by the time his contract ends.
