Wayne Gretzky might have retired from playing hockey, but he is still the richest hockey player. This is not only because of the hefty contracts he signed, but also because he is a savvy entrepreneur who invests wisely. Currently, Gretzky boasts a net worth of $250 million. Not only does he know how to invest, but as one of the greatest athletes of all time, he also knows what an athlete would be comfortable wearing.
So, when Gretzky started a clothing brand with the MLB legend Derek Jeter, who boasts a net worth of $200 million, the world-famous ballerina, Misty Copeland, and the successful entrepreneur Chris Riccobono, the clothing line was bound to turn some heads.

The clothing line, is aptly named Greatness Wins. Wayne Gretzky, Derek Jeter, and Misty Copeland are all co-founders along with Chris Riccobono. Each of them had a specific vision for the brand, and all of them came together to create something functional yet stylish. After all, when it comes to athletic wear, comfort and quality trump everything.
Wile Gretzky might have said goodbye to his hockey days, he’s picked up golf in retirement. And for his golfing excursions, he loves wearing Greatness Wins. In a conversation with Fast Company, Gretzky revealed that he loved the Clubhouse Pants from the brand, and said, “They are perfect for spending the day outside, with fabric that is both UPF 40 and water-repellent, ensuring you are comfortable no matter what the weather conditions are.”

Concentration during golfing is imperative, and the pants, according to Gretzky, are not distracting at all. “The last thing you want to be thinking about in the middle of a round of golf is your clothes, so we made sure the pants look classic, but are lightweight and actually move with you.”
Gretzky’s vision for the brand seems to match the ideas that the rest of the founders have as well. While creating the brand, they found a common problem amongst the prominent athlete clothing brands on the market. Realizing this, Riccobono brought together some of the greatest athletic minds to make the concept a reality.

What Greatness Wins aims to do
According to Ricobbono, many athletes reported that the quality is not consistent with big brand names. Therefore, his aim is to bring consistency in quality. He said, “I’d heard it from athletes, that the quality is not there anymore. With huge athletic brands, the specs are all over the place. And then you have athleisure, where the quality is actually great. The problem with them is they’re not meant to work out in.”

Jeter also shares the same perception as the brand. He commented, “All of our products have a focus on fabric performance, sustainability, and quality first and foremost.” Copeland added that the brand represents everything she stands for. “I see this collection as an evolution of my dance career, entrepreneurship, and life as a whole.” It seems like all four of them are on a mission to change the arena of sports clothing. Do you think they will succeed?
