The Russian NHL legend has a huge fan base in the land of the greatest democracy. Surprisingly enough, Alexander doesn’t only have a fanbase among the general public; even the higher-ups are impressed by his skills.

In an interview back in 2019, Alexander Ovechkin revealed the name of one of his biggest fans. Not precisely to be a fan but the ex-POTUS Donald Trump and Alexander have a good friendship. Trump even gave him a title that he admired a lot.

The Russian NHL legend was given the title “Alexander the Great” by the ex-POTUS. “The fans have come up with this nickname for me, which means that Trump is my fan!” said Alexander. The NHL legend was fully aware of his fanbase calling him this nickname too. So, naturally, the same logic extends to Trump too!
He is well-known not only among the general public but also among the country’s VIPs. Alexander also had a remarkable NHL career that also contributed to his title. He wasn’t just given the title; he earned it himself.
Remarkable NHL career of Alexander Ovechkin
Surprisingly enough, the Russian NHL legend is motivated to break Wayne Gretzky‘s record pretty soon. Alexander Ovechkin is only 100 goals away from breaking The Great One’s incredible record of 894 goals. The Washington Capitals forward scored career goals 794 and 795 on the Philadelphia Flyers’ empty net that made him close to the record of the Great One.

The Russian pro will still be continuing his career and is really close to breaking some really old NHL records that haven’t been touched for a long time. While The Great One scored 56 empty netters in his career, Alexander has pitted 51 empty netters till now.

Wayne Gretzky’s record has been there for a long time, and in the entire history of the NHL, there’s no player who has come closer to it.
