The Monday night game of the Los Angeles Kings and Pittsburgh Penguins was indeed a highlight event. But it was the locker room post-match that drew everyone’s attention when the Penguins players gave out an eventful tribute, which saw the opponent team coming out in their support despite the loss.

Pulling out a notable win against the Kings, the Pirates were quite dominant with their performance after putting up a defensive result of 5-1. With support from its key players, including Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kevin Hayes, Anthony Beauvillier, Alex Nedeljkovic, and Cody Glass, the Penguins were successful in putting an end to their opponent’s ninth winning streak.

The gesture, however, earned them the respect of their opponent too. Even after losing the match, the Los Angeles Kings were moved by the gesture, giving out their love in the post comment. Performances by Adrian Kempe and David Rittich achieved them with 27 saves, but it wasn’t enough, leaving the Kings to experience their first defeat of their home match since November 20.

LA Kings honoree gesture
Besides the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Los Angeles Kings were another NHL team that gained attention with their support for the LA Fire Department. Ever since the catastrophic wildfires that devastated large parts of Los Angeles, the NHL team LA Kings have shown their support not just once but on several occasions.

During the warmup sessions when both teams were preparing for the Monday match, not only the Kings but their opponent team too wore the LAFD caps with their training outfits. Besides this, the team also replaced their traditional logo with a graphic representation of the Los Angeles Fire Department displayed on the ice field during the match.
Having faced the worst nightmare of their careers from the match results, the Los Angeles Kings were looking to extend their home winning streak, but things took an unfortunate turn. Not by the win, but the amount of support showcased for the LAFD was enough to achieve the day.
