The Washington Capitals are slowly climbing back to form and are piling up victories as if it is their favorite pastime. Winning their fourth of the last five, they went on to beat the Seattle Kraken 4-2 and, of course, Alex Ovechkin had to add some history. The captain of the Capitals scored his 886th goal and is now only nine goals away from surpassing the record holder Wayne Gretzky. As if that wasn’t enough, the moment doubled as his 1,600th NHL point, proving once again that Ovi is aging like fine wine. Connor McMichael stepped up clutch, netting the go-ahead goal in the third while also picking up an assist.

John Carlson had two assists while Charlie Lindgren was sharp with 30 saves on the night. But let’s be real—while the scoreboard told one story, the penalty box told another. Fans couldn’t believe their eyes as absolute mayhem unfolded on the ice, leading to a mind-blowing 10 players getting crammed into the sin bin.

B/R Open Ice had fans losing their minds when they hit up X mid-game with a wild clip straight from the chaos on the sidelines. But how many players are we talking about? Not one… not two… not even seven or eight. Nope, we’re talking a jaw-dropping TEN players crammed into the penalty box at once.

It was a full-blown penalty-palooza, looking less like a timeout and more like a packed subway during rush hour. B/R Open Ice summed it up perfectly, “There are currently TEN guys in the penalty box between Caps and Kraken.” And indeed fans went gaga over it!

One fan summed it up best, laughing, “10 guys in the penalty box?! This game turned into a VIP section for chaos.” Hockey is not a stranger to penalties–especially during the heated games – but what happened on Sunday was something else. In the third period, when the Seattle Kraken and the Washington Capitals were tied at 2-2, a bit of trash-talking escalated to fighting. One moment it was on the ice, the next? Every single player on the ice was throwing hands like it was fight night. It took the officials a hot minute to restore order, and when the dust finally settled, all ten players were herded straight to the penalty box.

The fight began in front of Seattle’s net when Capitals’ Tom Wilson engaged in a three-on-one fight with Kraken players that quickly turned from a simple brawl to a wrestling match. With bodies flying and gloves hitting the ice, the refs quickly found themselves outnumbered, trying to wrangle the chaos. Both teams jumped in, fists were thrown, and let’s just say, keeping count of who was fighting whom became impossible. The situation escalated to the degree that the officials had no other option but to take the whole squad to the hockey jail. But this was just the beginning!

Washington Capitals’ game makes fans go into a frenzy!

One fan could not resist and wrote, “Didn’t even have to look at video to know Wilson was in the box 😂” And let’s be real—who was surprised? But oh, it was not only Washington’s Wilson who was causing the havoc. Nope, this was not a simple fight on the ice, everyone was a witness to the penalty box party.

Per the game log, all ten players were given minor penalties for roughing and it did not end there. Washington Capitals’ Brandon Duhaime and Seattle’s John Hayden received a game misconduct which saw them being sent to the locker room. In total, 22 minutes of penalties were given—excluding the ejections! Duhaime also took another two minutes for roughing and Seattle was awarded a power play after that commotion. No wonder another fan summed it up perfectly: “No one left to play the game 😂😂”

One fan remarked, “It looks like the 4 Nations brought early 90s hockey back. I love this.” And honestly? They weren’t wrong. This wasn’t just a game—it was a time machine back to the good ol’ days when dropping the gloves was practically a pregame ritual. The 2025 4 Nations Face-Off in Montreal wasted zero time setting the tone, with the U.S. and Canada diving straight into the action. Three fights in nine seconds? Now that’s vintage hockey.

The opening faceoff had barely hit the ice before Matthew Tkachuk and Brandon Hagel squared up, sending the crowd into a frenzy. Then, because one Tkachuk fight was not enough, Brady took it upon himself to get into a fight with Canada’s Sam Bennett. But when you thought that it is over, J.T. Miller and Colton Parayko continued the fight. No wonder fans felt that they were watching old time hockey, “Little old time hockey.” This game had everything: flying fists, fallen gloves, and the penalty box that was as crowded as if it was a VIP zone, this game was a tribute to the classic hockey. And honestly? Fans ate it up.
