The Minnesota Wild currently find themselves positioned in seventh place within the Western Conference. The team has participated in 67 games, securing victory in 37, while facing 25 losses and 5 overtime losses, resulting in a total of 79 points. Nevertheless, the Wild are facing a minor issue. Despite being among the frontrunners for a playoff spot, the team is grappling with a absence of many key players currently on injured reserve.

In a recent interview featured on Minnesota Wild’s X profile, coach John Hynes provided an update on the status of players on injury reserve, stating, “Yeah, well, Brod’s is obviously skating again today, so it’s really right now with him, I think, day to day, just how he responds to the skating. And then, you know, that’s important for him because he’s been off for a little bit with what he was going through. So that’s still, I would say, day to day. Every couple of days, we’ll know more and more with him and then Kirill and Ek are both progressing off the ice.”

This is a significant development for fans of the Wild. Jonas Brodin stands out as a seasoned defenseman. Since the 2012-13 season, he has been an integral player for the Wild, playing a crucial role in the franchise’s success. His statistics? Throughout the 841 games he has played for the Wild, he has scored 58 goals, 200 assists, and accumulated 258 points. Nonetheless, when he sustained a lower-body injury a few months ago, many fans became concerned.

Luckily, there’s some good news. According to the coach, the defenseman has been logging significant time on the ice. He is soon expected to be prepared for upcoming matches. Certainly, even if he sits out the remaining regular season games, his impact will be significant for the Wild as they head into the playoffs. Bu what about the other players? Brodin is not alone on this list as Hynes has also provided updates on Kirill Kaprizov and Joel Eriksson Ek.

Prior to Ek’s recent injury, the circumstances surrounding Kaprizov were rather dire. The prominent athlete underwent surgery, and it was confirmed that he would be sidelined from hockey activities for several weeks. Similarly, Ek’s situation mirrored that of others, as he was sidelined with a week-to-week lower-body injury. Hynes has confirmed that both players are currently in recovery, which is certainly encouraging news. What makes Kaprizov’s absence from the roster such a significant loss for the team?

A troubling situation for the Minnesota Wild

Recall the moment when the general manager of the Minnesota Wild, Bill Guerin, expressed, “Kirill is very upset. Kirill is such a team-focused guy. And I think with what he has, he knows he could probably get by in games and try to help the team. But he doesn’t like it. Him at 60 percent is better than most players in the League, but he wants to be 100 percent and help us play as long as we can this year. And I agree with him.”
