As they say, ‘Legends never die; they live on through their legacy,’ and that couldn’t be more true for the unforgettable NHL brothers, Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau. It’s been seven months since the world lost them in a tragic road accident, but their impact remains alive in the hearts of many. While fans and the hockey community continue to honor them, it’s their families—especially their wives—who are keeping their legacy alive while raising their little ones. Johnny’s wife, Meredith, often shares glimpses of their children’s lives on social media, and one recent moment had hearts melting.

On Instagram, Meredith shared a sweet video of their daughter, Noa, to show how dearly she loved her father. “Now Noa overnight with her plush photo album of pics with daddy. Wakes up and leaves her bed with just the essentials. Again all thanks to aunt @ohmissmeghan,” she wrote. In the video, the first thing that wakes up Noa is to clutch her favorite teddy bear, which is stuffed with pictures of her father. And now, in what can only be described as the love and admiration they have for their husbands, the wives of Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau have made a huge hockey move in memory of their husbands.

Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau’s legacy lives on!

Taking to Instagram, the wives of Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau shared something truly special on March 18—the launch of the John and Matthew Gaudreau Foundation, a heartfelt tribute to their beloved husbands. In their emotional announcement, they expressed, “John and Matty have made a tremendous and everlasting impact on everyone who knew them. In addition to their hockey talents, the boys were known for their kindness.”

And now through this foundation that kindness will continue to go on touching people’s lives just as the Gaudreau brothers did. Their mission is quite noble–to support the causes that their husbands cared about, and “to ultimately continue to make a positive impact on the world in their honor.” As Co-Presidents, they are determined to grow the foundation and expand its reach in the coming months and years. And they said, “Your support will promote and expand youth ice hockey opportunities, help hockey families facing tragedies, as well as help families that are unfortunately also affected by drunk driving, like ours.”

They have encouraged the public to visit www.johnandmatty.org to be part of this mission through contributing or sharing the word. “Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to creating a safer and more inclusive community.” Despite the bitter tears they have shed, they are determined to keep John and Matty’s memory alive and to be truthful. They’re already making them proud. And guess what? Johnny Gaudreau’s wife has done something special earlier too!

Johnny’s wife shares something wholesome!

August 29, 2024, will forever be a day etched in the hearts of NHL fans—a day of unthinkable loss when Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau passed away just a day before their sister Katie’s wedding. In the midst of unimaginable heartbreak, the Gaudreau family has shown resilience, choosing to turn their pain into purpose. As Katie once said, “They did so much good in such a short period of time, and I just think we need to capitalize on that and keep going. That is what they would want.” That’s exactly what the Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau Foundation’s powerful new collaboration with the Columbus Blue Jackets and LineChangeCo aims to do.

Johnny may have only played two seasons in Columbus, but his impact was undeniable. And Matthew? He was just stepping into the world of coaching after a solid AHL career. Hockey ran through their veins, and now, in their honor, the Blue Jackets, alongside Johnny’s wife Meredith and LineChangeCo (founded by hockey wives Angela Price and Julie Petry), have dropped a limited-edition crewneck.

Designed by Meredith herself for the team’s “Hockey for Her” event, the sweatshirt is inspired by the Blue Jackets’ third jersey colors. The best part? Every single penny from its sales will go to the John and Matthew Gaudreau Foundation, which has already made waves in education and advocacy. It’s clear that their story didn’t end—it’s just being written in a new way, one act of kindness at a time.
