It’s a big loss for the Washington Capitals. Team Canada has released its 4 Nations Face-Off practice roster on social media, and the team’s goaltender, Logan Thompson, is not on the list. Why though? Is it because of any serious matter that kept Logan from an important match like this, or something else?
Logan Thompson is coming off with frosty relations with his former team. Ever since he requested a trade from the Vegas Golden Knights to join the Washington Capitals, his witty comments made against his former team for taking all the goaltending credit added fuel to the already-created fire.
Thompson, however, seems to be not much affected by the decision after revealing his remarks on the team’s management and never coming to his contacts for participation. Not even an injury replacement would make him a probable prospect now to get included in the team’s roster. His sarcastic remarks made against the Vegas Golden Knights after reuniting with the Capitals are now coming to affect his career.

“They never reached out to me, and that didn’t upset me. It didn’t surprise me when I was left off the team. If there was to be an injury, I know I probably won’t get that call, and that’s okay. They’ve got their guys, and I just hope that Canada goes out there and wins it all.”
But before landing with the Capitals, Thompson’s career in Vegas took a new start, making his NHL debut in 2020. As part of the team, his 103-game career saw him claim achievements that included a silver medal win in the 2022 Canada World Championship and the 2023 Stanley Cup winning trophy.
Logan Thompson is, however, not the only one from the Washington Capitals team to not participate in the 4Nations Face-Off. No other player from the Eastern Conference-leading Capitals is included or rumored to be a part of it. This has created a much-sparked controversy among fans.
Fans think Thompson’s absence is the team’s loss
With Logan Thompson not part of Team Canada’s roster, fans are disappointed with the selection after missing out on a goaltender like him. This, however, also comes as a big loss for the team itself, with fans thinking of the team’s performance.
Seeing Thompson’s absence from the roster, a fan comments, stating the importance of the Capitals goaltender. “Should be Thompson by a country mile.” The player is coming a long way with an established career in the NHL, currently donning a record of 24 wins and 2 losses this season.
For a fan, the lineup, however, comes off as awful, as seen. One comment read, “These lines are terrible.” Team Canada’s roster for the 4Nations tournament includes Leafs’ Mitch Marner Skates and Oilers’ Connor McDavid in the first line. With an upper-body injury, Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon take the center lineup, with Mark Stone on the opposite wing. Seth Jarvis is joined by Brad Marchand and Brayden Point. Brandon Hagel, Anthony Cirelli, and Sam Bennett take the bottom lineup.

Another fan, however, comes with his truthful comments, stating that Team Canada is absurd. “This team is ridiculous lmfao.” The lineup made, however, comes off as laughable, despite players like Colorado Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon as part of the team’s roster.
Missing out on players like Darcy Kuemper and Logan Thompson, a fan with his comments states his wish to see both successful players on Team Canada’s roster. “Omg is it too late for kuemper or Thompson.” Los Angeles Kings, who acquired Kuemper last season, are coming off promising performances with the Avalanche and the Capitals.
Coming up with a question, a fan becomes confused about the team’s roster selection. “Is this good?” Seen with doubt over the roster, there have been several questions raised against the Team Canada selection of players.

For a fan, the absence of Capitals star Logan Thompson is coming off as a big loss to be experienced by the team during the 4Nations Face-Off tournament. “Logan Thompson not being there is such a huge mistake.”
With no Logan Thompson this time, his prominence, however, makes him suitable enough to get selected by the fans in Team Canada’s roster. The upcoming tournament will replace the league’s All-Star Game and is set to begin on February 12. Whether it will be a highlighting event is something that remains a question.
