Everyone is familiar with Justin Bieber as a popular pop star, but this time, he is going a step higher. Before moving to his recent move, let’s go back in time a little. In January, Southern California witnessed pure horror as raging fires across the region due to dry weather and strong winds. The destruction has been catastrophic–at least 29 people were killed, homes burned to the ground, and thousands of firemen fighting the fire in 45 square kilometers in LA County. The two biggest blazes were the Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire, while the Hughes Fire forced tens of thousands to evacuate in Castaic.
Not even Hollywood was left out—celebrities like Paris Hilton have seen their homes turned to rubble. It’s been nothing short of heartbreaking. But now, amidst all the destruction, the spirit of LA is shining through. Some stars aren’t just watching from the sidelines—they’re coming out to help. And leading the charge? None other than Justin Bieber teaming up with the NHL to bring aid to those affected.
The LA Kings Hockey Communications Department hit up X on February 22, dropping some seriously exciting news for hockey and entertainment fans alike. Skate for LA Strong is officially coming in hot—well, more like cool and icy—as the Kings and the NHL join forces with a star-studded lineup for a cause that truly matters. “The @LAKings, in partnership with the @NHL, today announced the full lineup of players, coaches, and musical performers for Skate For LA Strong, “A Celebration to Support the Fire Recovery Efforts in Los Angeles.””

None other than Justin Bieber and Steve Carell are hitting the ice, alongside “former NHL greats and Hockey Hall of Fame members Rob Blake, Cammi Granato, Mark Messier, and Jeremy Roenick.” But wait—there’s more!

The event is also bringing in some honorary coaching legends, because why not have a little Hollywood magic behind the bench? “Joining the four teams as honorary coaches will be Danny DeVito, Snoop Dogg, Will Ferrell, Al Michaels, Cobie Smulders, Hannah Stocking, Vince Vaughn, and Andrew Whitworth.” With this kind of all-star energy, Skate for LA Strong is shaping up to be an unforgettable night of hockey, heart, and high-profile hype!
The LA Kings and the NHL are joining forces to host Skate For LA Strong at Crypto.com Arena on Sunday, February 23rd at 3:00 PM (PT). The format of this All-Star game will be a bracket that will have four teams playing in a single-elimination format, with the participants comprising celebrities, retired NHL players, and hockey royalty, as well as actual heroes from the Los Angeles Fire Department, County Fire Department, and Police Department.
And if you can’t make it to the arena, don’t sweat it—this epic event will be live-streamed across ESPN2, ESPN+, Disney+, Hulu, truTV, Sportsnet, FanDuel Sports Network, KCAL-TV, Pluto TV, and Samsung TV Plus starting at 3 p.m. (PT). Oh, and while Justin Bieber is stepping up for LA fire victims, his wife is out here making her own moves too for it!

Back in January, Justin Biber’s wife, Hailey Bieber, stepped up in a big way. The Rhode founder donated $1 million to LA wildfire relief so that the local organizations could support moms, caregivers, and families affected by the disaster. She posted on Instagram and said, “Rhode futures foundation x LA Wildfire $1 Million Relief for Moms, Caregivers, and Families.” Her mission? To remove hurdles and empower the less privileged, especially as more fires were destroying people’s homes.

“The LA wildfires have deeply affected our community, impacting our team and hometown, making this commitment more timely than ever.” As for January and February, Hailey promised that Rhode would keep donating 1% of its sales to wildfire relief. She emphasized that this was not a onetime affair. “The road to recovery will be long, and we’re here to continue investing in organizations providing much-needed relief.”
Meanwhile, the LA Kings weren’t just focused on hockey—they were rallying behind their community too. They did not let the fundraising initiatives die even during their match against the Seattle Kraken, and they held several donation campaigns to assist the victims of fire and the firefighters. “Our hearts are with our entire Los Angeles community,” the team shared in a heartfelt statement. Even off the ice, the Kings were ensuring that their city was aware they had them covered and now Justin Bieber too!
