Tailgating is a proud tradition amongst hockey fans. Fans, rivals, and people from all walks of life get together for food and drinks. Hearing chants and cheers for favorite teams or players is common. Tailgating also brings together people who might not be able to purchase tickets for the game but still want to get into the spirit of it all. Recently, a tailgate before an NHL game caught the eye of the public, for the huge numbers it attracted.
The tailgate was set up by the fans in the parking lot of the Carter–Finley Stadium. The party was in the anticipation of a Hurricanes game that was about to take place inside the stadium. The fans were decked out in their team’s jerseys, and many activities were being held for the entertainment of the crowd.
