It’s good news for all hockey fans. Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane is expected to make his possible return on ice, making his long-awaited comeback in the National Hockey League. His holidays, or to be precise, his recovery days, are over now, and his days as a hockey player will be back soon.

Away from the 2024-25 NHL season, he returns after sustaining quite the injuries. With the starting month of the new year already ending, there is no scope for Kane to come back to play in February but in the month after might have some hope, as revealed in one of his latest Instagram posts.

After spending his time recovering from the injuries for almost a year, Evander Kane is returning to the usual. In one of his recent Instagram posts, the hockey player was seen back on his feet at the game field, the Rogers Place ice. Accompanied by his children, the video gives an unexpected reveal on his comeback to the sport.

Edmonton Oilers have been promising this season with 53 points scored in 41 games. The struggle, however, came last season in the absence of the team’s 33-year-old forward. Kane’s last appearance came in the 2022–23 regular season with a performance of 24 goals in a total of 77 games played. The event that followed led him to sustain several injuries while undergoing surgeries on September 20, 2024. The recovery journey since then, coming from two hernias, two abdominal tears, and both abductors, was a tough experience.

A report by Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli gave fans an insight into what the Oilers have to say about their player’s status. Left with a disappointing season, the update on Kane’s health comes with questions on his recovery. “#Oilers say Evander Kane underwent knee surgery in Edmonton on Thursday. It’s unrelated to September’s abdominal surgery, but the team says it will cause him to pause that rehab in the meantime. Expected recovery from knee surgery portion is 4-8 weeks. Then what for abdominal?”

With the knee surgery done, the delay in the recovery process of his abdominal injury is yet to be completed with the new season already at a start. Without their forward, the Oilers can struggle, who holds a promising 62 goals in a total of 161 games played for the team. His return, understandably, isn’t happening in the regular season. If the team can bring him in before the playoffs, it will be something which can boost fan excitement.

The sneak peek given from Kane has raised quite the expectations. And comments are pouring in great numbers.

With the upcoming 2024-25 Stanley Cup Playoffs coming into account, fans are excited for Kane’s return, expecting to make his comeback in the event. One comment by a fan read, “Let’s go, Kane! We need you back for the playoffs!” Losing out in the finals of the Stanley Cup last year by Florida, this time the Edmonton Oilers need the win desperately, and if Kane returns, it might be a bonus for them.

A fan commenting on the video, however, comes with his own wish on the player’s return but not with the Edmonton Oilers. “I wish you played for the leafs it would be amazing.” If not the Oilers, the hockey wrestler could have also been a part of the Toronto Maple Leafs, who are currently at No. 1 in the Atlantic Division.

With one talking about his possible trade, a fan states about the overwhelming emotion he felt thanks to Kane’s return. “Who needs a trade at the deadline. Kane back for the Oilers is huge.” After a one-year gap, the expected comeback with one of the emerging teams of the NHL is promising.

Evander Kane’s absence was felt. Awaiting his comeback, a fan comments, “Miss you on the ice.” Currently, under the recovery period, his hopeful return is expected before the Stanley Cup playoffs event scheduled in the month of April.

Not just him, but his kids also garnered some attention from his Instagram video. “Your kiddos are adorable please come back soon.” A father to three kids, his adorable munchkins stole the show from their father.

Besides these public comments, there was one that was hidden by Instagram. The comment “Bada–” was left hidden at the end of the page. The term comes in respect to the overcoming journey of the hockey player who faced several injuries and is expecting to heal overall, coming with a successful return on the field representing the Edmonton Oilers.
