Guess what? This NHL season has been undoubtedly the most electrifying in years! From legendary players shaking up the league by switching teams, while some, with their relentless pursuit of breaking records, to the fearless rookies who have stepped up on ice, all in an attempt to create history in their names! Sounds thrilling, right? These are two Boston Stars joining the NHL for their debut season. Gabe Perreault is adding some solid chapters to his career story with his counterpart, Ryan Leonard, who has stolen the spotlight from the Washington Capitals.

It’s a pure spectacle one can’t afford to miss, but wait, Perreault’s Boston teammates showed up for him in his debut match. Yes, just when the New York Rangers played against the Minnesota Wild this evening, Leonard was right there, standing sharp and sweet! “Making your NHL debut with your boys in the crowd has to be one of the best feelings🔥,” B/R Open posted it on X with a picture of Perreault playing and his teammates standing in the stands to support their Boston Star!

“Super excited, obviously. A special moment for me and my family for sure and obviously a little nervousness, but I know that comes with it [so I’m] mostly excited,” Perreault stated before his match on Wednesday. Known for his slick hands and being one of the highly skilled forwards, Perreault’s excellent playmaking was all set to make a mark. That’s why—super excited! And with Leonard making his presence, it was more than returning the favor. Hold on. What favor, you may ask?

Let’s throw back to Tuesday when the Capitals smashed the Boston Bruins with 4-3. Now, knowing exactly what this moment meant, Perreault showed up for Leonard while the rookie played his debut match! So, was it his turn to, like, bang on the glass for Perreault and let the Boston mate know that he was there to support? Probably more than that. After all, they are the same guys who fed each other perfect passes in college and now watched each other take their first steps in the big league!

Gabe Perreault brings along his Boston buddy!

But what was it like skating on the ice together during Boston days? If Leonard and Perreault were to answer, they’ll probably be talking about a mix of things like goals, some point streaks, and perhaps about the words of wisdom shared between the shifts, too! But here’s the actual point: for these young guys to debut in the NHL. Perreault, the ultimate rookie, racked up 108 points in just two seasons. Well, why take it slow when you can dominate?

And for Leonard, the perfect complement would be for his physical edge and clutch scoring ability. After all, his journey took him straight from Boston to Washington, and guess what? The young star has already soaked up a lot of wisdom from none, but the great–Alex Ovechkin. “Just to go to dinner with those guys and meet all those guys, really just trying to embrace the moment, spend quality time with those guys, Not a lot of time you’re getting to go to dinner with one of the greats, so just trying to embrace it,” Leonard pointed. Well, when it’s Ovechkin himself taking you under his wing, you know you’re doing great already!
