Sometimes, it’s not you who is losing, but the opponent who wants to win the game more than you. The Edmonton Oilers fans must have thought their favorite team could continue the snap of losing streak, but it didn’t happen against the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks finished the game with a staggering 2-6 final score on the board. And the back-to-back losses have triggered fans.

The Oilers recently won against the Hurricanes with a 2-1 record after a five-game losing streak. The fans already booed the Edmonton Oilers in the previous game. But this time, people are furious. And you would be shocked to know what the Oilers’ head coach told the reporter when asked about the losses.

The Edmonton Oilers coach, Kris Knoblauch, said, “I thought our start was outstanding. Thought we’re skating well, moving the puck spent a lot of time in the offensive zone, we see the power play goal we had a couple good strong shifts after that.” Yet, the team chemistry lacks within the team. It’s quite evident within most of the NHL fraternity.

He continued, “And then the goal against a couple of guys stopped playing though the puck went off over the glass. It didn’t. And we got caught a goal against. After that, we’re a fragile team. When things aren’t going well, we lose our game.”

It’s actually heartbreaking for any Oilers fan to see how the first-time minutes went for the Oilers compared to the rest of the game. The game ended 6-2, and those two goals were from Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. It must really haunt any Oilers fan if they think of an Oilers game without Connor McDavid and Draisaitl. Calvin Pickard, who was highly anticipated as a future goalie after the previous win (SA- 35/36), saved only seven compared to Stuart Skinner’s 14 saves in the game.

And that’s what reflects in the March 5 game. Now, the Oilers have lost the last six of their seven matchups. Fans are fuming to see a victory. They can’t even process how last year’s Stanley Cup finalist showcased such a performance. This has raised a concern, which is reflected in fans’ comments.

Concern arises after Edmonton Oilers’ back-to-back losses

If you are from Edmonton or a die-hard Oilers fan, your X (twitter) must have been filled with cryptic responses, frustrated fans, and some suggestions to the Oilers. One such fan wanted the Oilers’ general manager to see the post he wrote. X said through X, “If this doesn’t shake the GM into doing something big, idk what will. Getting pumped by a rebuilding Ducks team with 20 games remaining in the regular season. Unacceptable on every level.”

What’s your perspective on:

Is the Oilers' fragility a coaching issue, or do the players lack the mental toughness?

The Oilers are second in the Pacific division. And their win-loss tally right now shows that the Oilers have played 61 games so far and could only register 35 wins and 4 overtime losses along with 22 losses overall. They only have 21 games left. Regarding that, a fan has commented, “Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch called his group a ‘fragile team.’ The league’s oldest team isn’t supposed to be playing like this. The Oilers have 21 games left to figure this out because it’s trending toward a long summer.”

The Oilers organization was founded in 1972. They have five Stanley Cups to their name and carry the rich heritage of the NHL. Having witnessed everything, the team earned respect during successful years. To see the sudden drop in performances confuses fans.

And now, this is the time to dig into the Oilers guys!
