The Buffalo Sabres broadcaster and former NHL player is not new to the injuries, but the latest puck-hit was a brutal one. The game was the Buffalo Sabres vs the New York Rangers game when broadcaster Rob Ray took a massive puck hit to the face. He continued to broadcast in a fiery way with some spicy words after the hit at the KeyBank Center game. But after Saturday’s mishap, Rob Ray has made a clear decision on announcing.
In a recent video, the Sabres broadcaster was seen in the last row of the arena. It was hilarious and funny! Gino Hard shared footage of Rob Ray talking from the last row with a caption, “Rob Ray will contribute to the broadcast from the VERY LAST ROW of the 300 section tonight to avoid getting hit with another puck 😭🤣. While talking to other broadcasters about the same, Rob said, “Way up here, guys, I’m up here with all my friends. In the spotlight, the furthest spot away from any activity down on the ice.”

However, remembering the errant puck hit, Rob Ray later told his partner, Dan Dunleavy, “I got a couple of little stitches. Right where the golf ball is right here.” And pointing to the little bump on his eyebrow, Rob said, “That’s not normal.” The New York Rangers had zero goals in the game and the Buffalo Sabres were 4 down in the 1st period of the game. The clock was at 2:24 when the puck hit Rob Ray and the immediate reaction was, “Ah, f–-.”
But you know, injuries are not new to one of the toughest NHL players of his time. Do you remember the last season? Let’s talk about that and also learn what the Buffalo Sabres coach said about Rob Ray.
The Buffalo Sabres Rob Ray and back-to-back puck hits
Getting hit by the puck isnt new to Rob in fact, he suffered similarly last season. The puck hit his head, and even though he was soaked in blood, he continued broadcasting. “And Rayzor just took another one,” Another broadcaster called it in when Rob Ray was hit. He must have remembered the previous infamous incident involving Ray and the puck. One fan wrote “No surprise, the guy is tough,” on Ray continuing even after a hit on Saturday.

And another fan’s hilarious reaction was “Solid skull, not even a dent. Glad he’s alright.” While the other one said, “Easiest live broadcast F-bomb pass ever.” But one of the important takes on Ray’s puck hit was by Buffalo Sabres coach “Well, Rob’s puck hit him at approximately 15 miles an hour. The one that hit me hit me at 100. And here’s the difference, when the puck hits Rob’s head, it breaks. When it hits mine, it just absorbs it.” Everything aside, that hit was a bad one!
The Sabres announcer has made major headlines after his unexpected outburst of swear words following the brutal hit on the face, shocking fans and sparking a wave of reactions across social media and the hockey world and sending everyone into a frenzy. Many are now discussing whether his emotional response was justified or if it crossed the line, adding even more drama to an already intense moment in the game.
