It has been a forgettable season for the Boston Bruins. While their Stanley Cup Playoffs chances have taken a major hit, the Bruins suffered their 8th consecutive loss after going down against the Red Wings in a tight contest, 2-1. The Bruins were seriously hoping to change their fortunes to keep the playoff race alive, but the defeat against the Red Wings has seriously dented their chances of progressing through. Despite a run of bad news for the team, they received some respite in the form of Charlie McAvoy.

Their star defenseman, McAvoy, has been away from the action since the Four Nations Faceoff. The 27-year-old suffered a shoulder injury, which was followed by an infection, and it kept him away from the action since the round-robin game against Finland at the Four Nations tournament. However, he is back in practice in a regular practice jersey, signaling that he was ready to make a comeback soon.

Charlie McAvoy has been out of action for more than six weeks now, having suffered an AC joint shoulder injury. Subsequently, his condition became worse, and he was admitted to the hospital overnight after developing an infection. Having suffered the injury on national duty, Charlie McAvoy wasn’t happy with how his country managed his injury.

During an interview, he revealed, “Well, I think you’d just have to talk to them about that. I know what I went through, and I know how I feel about it. But I’m not really sure how other people felt. To be honest… didn’t really give it much thought, you know, when I was the one that was going through it all… I’ll just leave that there. It’s been a lot. It’s tough.”

McAvoy, who has scored 7 goals and 16 assists this season, went through one of the worst phases of his career on the hospital bed. Recently, he made a shocking revelation after being discharged from the hospital.

It was when I got home that things sort of hit the fan on [that] Monday and that landed me in the hospital and things moved pretty fast after that. The infection was moving pretty fast after that and it got very serious, very quick. Another thing that I’m just trying to leave in the past, really.”
