Do you live in Boston? If you do, then you should be glad how well your ice hockey team is doing in the NHL. Indeed, the Boston Bruins have been a formidable force in the past few seasons, always reserving their place in the playoffs. Even though they haven’t touched the Stanley Cup after 2011, the team has been putting up prolific performances thanks to their top-notch players on ice.

But do you know about a few notable ones? You might have heard about David Pastrnak. Indeed, the Czech ice hockey star received one of the biggest contracts in the league a few seasons ago and has been a Bruin since the day he got drafted into the NHL. However, in the mid-season, many surprising trades and contract extensions have been going on, and a certain podcaster caught the attention of the fans online after making a joke about Pasta receiving another extension, while his teammate Morgan Geekie’s NHL future remains in the dark.

“Not enough people are talking about how the #NHLBruins are gonna have to move the Pastrnak contract in order to extend Morgan Geekie 10x$10M,” Michael Sullivan reported on his official X profile. So, you are telling me David Pastrnak is on his way to get a whopping 10-year contract extension that amounts up to $100,000,000? And the reaction of the fans on the social media?

“What are you drinking this fine afternoon?” A fan wanted to know about the Bruins’ podcaster’s state of mind, because this announcement was something astounding to believe. To which Sullivan replied, stating, “I’m Brisk’d up.” He shared a photo of holding a pizza, which had a Brisk Ice Tea bottle on top. Indeed, he was joking and further clarified it, stating, “Guys I know 75% of you understand I’m joking but to the 25% telling me I’m an idiot…idk what to tell you.”

It appears that the mid-season blockbuster is finally reaching the Bruins broadcaster! Pastrnak has received his fair share of contract extensions, back in the 2022-23 season when he agreed to terms on an eight-year, $90 million deal signed by the Bruins’ general manager, Don Sweeney. And why not? Pasta deserved every bit of those dollars! But what about his teammate Morgan Geekie? Currently, the Bruins’ center’s future is not looking good as his two-year contract with the team is about to end by the 2024-25 season.

While Geekie has much less time on his hands, it does raise a big question on the Bruins: Do they really want him out of the team? Or are they holding off on making a decision until the playoffs begin? Time becomes everything in this situation, as Geekie’s performance on the ice will prove his worth to the Bruins’ management, as currently, with 46 games played in the campaign, he has 15 goals and 11 assists. Apart from Geekie, Pasta’s future is already secured with the team, and if you are an avid Bruins fan, remember how he secured that whopping $90 million contract?

Boston Bruins’ David Pastrnak making a statement

David Pastrnak is a smooth operator when it comes to handling the puck on the ice. Going back to the 2022-23 season, when the Boston Bruins were absolutely dominating the group stage games, they once faced the Seattle Kraken. And guess what? Bruins’ Pasta made Kraken pasta out of the opponent’s team and served it hot to the crowd who came to watch the ice hockey match.

The advantage was at first with the Kraken because Matty Beniers scored under the first minute of the first period. However, the Bruins’ David Krejci scored the equalizer during the 11th minute. In the second period, Kraken’s Vince Dunn scored after the first minute, but Pasta secured the equalizer, and it had a catch. Indeed, the goal was just magnificent.

Skating from the left side of the rink, Pasta had the puck. But Kraken’s defenseman Adam Larsson was ready to take it away from him. However, this was the time when the Bruins’ star’s hockey stick tricks came into play, and he totally confused Larsson with the way he handled the puck, and the moment he got the space, Pasta gave it a brilliant tap direct to the net of the Kraken’s goaltender, Philipp Grubauer.

While the Kraken put up a good show, the Bruins emerged victorious in the end with a score of 6-5. Just a few days after this game, the Bruins’ general manager, Don Sweeney, who had always been impressed by Pasta’s skills on the ice, came to a mutual agreement for the Czech ice hockey player to sign a whopping $90 million contract for the next eight years. Pastrnak will continue to play for Boston for many years, eagerly awaiting the opportunity to display his skill on the ice.
