There was a time when Joe Haggerty conveyed that “Don Sweeney said the Bruins will have ‘a more cautious approach’ at the trade deadline than in year’s past, but made it pretty clear they’ll be talking about trading players off the NHL roster as well as acquiring players and assets. Sounds like a retooling may be coming.” However, for the Boston Bruins, the journey has been quite tumultuous since that time.

Certainly, significant developments have unfolded with just over 24 hours left until the trade deadline. The Bruins’ aspirations for the Stanley Cup playoffs have been severely hindered by a series of injuries affecting key players, including Charlie McAvoy, Hampus Lindholm, Trent Frederic (who has been traded to the Edmonton Oilers), and most recently, Brad Marchand.

In challenging circumstances, general manager Don Sweeney must take decisive action. In a recent update from Joe Haggerty on X, it has been revealed that “The Bruins have signed Tyler Pitlick to a one-year, two-way contract for next season for $775K. Has NHL experience and has been a very good veteran leader and good player in the AHL with Providence this season.”
