Chevrefils fills in when two of the team’s roster goalies are hurt. In January 2019, when Florida Panthers’ starter got injured, Chevrefils got a chance to suit up. While he did not get a chance to get down on the ice, it was a memorable moment for him. He remembers the moment saying, “You have so many thoughts that go through your head. You’re like, ‘I can’t do that bad, and even if I do, no one is expecting miracles from you.” He even remembers the exact feeling he had when he donned the jersey.

He recalls, “Once you get the jersey on, you take a second just to stare at it. I know it’s nowhere near when a guy gets drafted and puts on his first jersey, but, to me, it’s about the same thing.” Former Canadiens player Guillaume Latendresse, who is also Chevrefils’ childhood friend, and the one who got him the gig. Chevrefils is not the first one who made headlines, though. In 2018, an accountant by the name of Scott Foster was called in by the Chicago Blackhawks. In 2020, Zamboni driver Dave Ayres surprised everyone by subbing for the Hurricanes and winning against the Maple Leafs.
