Dave Portnoy is reeling from his recent bet gone wrong. The Cincinnati Bengals have more stuff to deal with than just their current form. Yesterday’s match against the Baltimore Ravens didn’t end only with the Bengal’s defeat, but their star player will probably have to watch the rest of the season from the sidelines. Ahead of the match, Portnoy had shared his $120,000 wager that he put on the Bengals.

Now, with Joe Burrow out because of his wrist injury, Portnoy wants the NFL to protect the integrity of the sport. He was furious as he called his bet on Cincinnati the “Worst bet ever.” Meanwhile, Burrow tried to explain the appendage he was seen wearing ahead of the Ravens game. But Portnoy seems to be in no mood to hear those explanations.

The Baltimore Ravens thrashed the Cincinnati Bengals 34-20. Moments after the Bengals’ defeat, it was learned that the Bengals may have swept some things under the carpet. The injury report probably didn’t tell the complete story that could’ve altered the match result. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor mentioned that the QB may have a sprained wrist, which only added to further speculations. Later on, Burrow allegedly revealed that the cast on his wrist was actually a compression sleeve. As Ian Rapoport, an NFL insider, tweeted this, Portnoy was quick to send out his reply, discarding it blatantly.

In his post on X, Portnoy shared an animated clip of the eccentric (and obviously fictional) TV anchorman Ron Burgandy to depict his true thoughts about such explanations. The gif clip featured “I DON’T BELIEVE YOU” written over it. After the defeat to the Texans earlier this week, Portnoy had to confess that his recent support may have jinxed the Bengals’ performance. But even he’s not ready to gobble down everything the Bengals throw after their shambling defeat.

Reflecting his view, fans are also skeptical about what to make out of the matter. While Portnoy is still looking to recover from his misplaced wager, the Bengals will have bigger problems of their own with their star QB out for the rest of the year.

Portnoy fighting on two fronts

The Bengals aren’t the only thing making the days harder for Portnoy. His alma mater, Michigan Wolverines, is facing a coach suspension after a controversial sign-stealing controversy. Michigan has stated that they’ll legally battle the NCAA’s decision to restrict Jim Harbaugh from undertaking his responsibilities. Yet, the NCAA remains firm in its stand.

Portnoy’s fondness for the Wolverines is well known, and he recently took a potshot at the other Big Ten names. Portnoy suggested that the folks at the rival teams ought to focus more on their own programs instead of vesting all their resources in finding out what’ll happen to the Michigan Wolverines. Now, it remains to be seen if either the Bengals or the Wolverines come bearing any relief in the coming days for the businessman.
