The tag of being the GOAT refers to the “Greatest Of All Time” and is not used based on a single exceptional performance. The abbreviation is used to describe a person who excels in his/her field and requires countless spectacular performances, with results that pave the way to the top and make one stay there.
Shannon Sharpe doesn’t see Tom Brady as the GOAT
In an episode of the TV program, “Undisputed” Sharpe discussed with his fellow host Skip Bayless, who according to him, would be the G.O.A.T. of all Athletes. They aired the episode earlier this year on January 25 on FS1. When Bayless asked if he would give the title to Tom Brady, Sharpe was quick to rebuff the idea.
‘The Shapeshifter’ said that while as a part of a team, Brady made an excellent athlete with his overall performance and stats, it wasn’t worthy of the title. Explaining his point, Sharpe said, “Over 22 seasons, he’s been phenomenal, but I’m going to say no. Brady’s had an unbelievable career, but what keeps me from saying yes is the lack of individual accomplishments.” He added, “Brady has only been first team all pro 3 times in 22 seasons and that was the seasons in which he won the MVP.”
Sharpe’s Version Of The Real MVP
Sharpe further put forth the performance stats of Wayne Gretzky, MJ, and LeBron to justify his statement. “But when I talk about the greatest individual, I look at MVP, first team, all NBA, all pro. Obviously, hockey doesn’t have that, they just have the MVP,” said the American Sports analyst.
