The titles of the sports’ legends shouldn’t be tarnished – Former NFL star Jason Kelce has recently been taught a lesson on this. The debate kicked off with Jason’s full-blown allegation on Secretariat, arguably the best racehorse ever to run on the track. In regards to the Secretariat’s victory spree during the thoroughbred’s active time on the track, the elder Kelce expressed his half-baked opinion. Questioning the horse racing legend’s stellar form, he claimed, “Nobody talks about it: Secretariat was doping,” in his New Heights podcast. Later he took to the X, to fortify his argument with far-fetched notions.

However, the horse racing community couldn’t take things lightly. Therefore, a harsh revert was on the way. Now, Jason Kelce is dousing the situation with digesting his own words.

In supporting his allegations on Secretariat’s steroid intake, Jason Kelce put forward the thoroughbred’s veterinary report. As per the report, the late horse racing legend had the largest heart to be ever seen. Eventually, this led Jason to think about the steroid angle, as it is common in such horses. However, horse racing fans couldn’t bear such weak logic as the Reddit community tamed the question, “Can someone in the industry tell me if they’ve ever heard these rumors before, or is Kelce talking out of his a**?” Surprisingly, the former Eagles’ pro put doubt on Secretariat’s 1973 achievement of the Triple Crown including the memorable record in the Kentucky Derby. However, in the latest development, Jason Kelce has stepped back from his comment on Secretariat.

In his clarification, he has quashed his enlarged heart theory. Furthermore, with an apology, he has pointed out, “I’m not trying to take away from Secretariat’s, or anyone from that eras legacy. You’re right, without proof it is unfair to assume these things publicly.” Those statements may stop the debate that brought one of the horseracing legends to shame in public eyes, despite the legend’s passing away 35 years ago. Things like these enraged several big names who countered Jason Kelce in the first place.

Secretariat was the natural Big Red to everyone’s disbelief

In such a dark situation, someone from Secretariat’s owner family could have been a better responder to Jason Kelce when the latter had been busy questioning the legacy. Eventually, the necessary response came from Kate Tweedy, whose mother, Penny, and grandfather Christopher Chenery remained the astounding thoroughbred’s manager and breeder. So, in an unsurprising rebuttal, Kate flouted all the allegations made by Jason. Additionally, she described the mystery behind the Big Red’s large heart.

“It was not chemically or pathologically enlarged—just a genetic gift of nature that enabled him to run farther and faster than any horse in the last century,” she added, justifying the legend’s mastery. Moreover, the physician who carried out the necropsy process reported the same.

In his admittance, physician Dr. Thomas Swerczek, wrote, “It wasn’t pathologically enlarged. All the chambers and the valves were normal. It was just larger. I think it told us why he was able to do what he did.” These points should have nullified the doubts on Secretariat, nature’s wonder. However, Jason Kelce had to swallow the bitter pill after all this, and he has ultimately done that!
