Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons opted not to speak to the media following the game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Parsons revealed later he was upset about the negative attention directed the way of his team. Stephen A. Smith has been one of those vocal critics. On his eponymous show, Smith played a clip shared by Parsons decrying the hate received by the Cowboys. The Cowboys beat the Chargers 20-17 at the SoFi Stadium most recently. Smith was in attendance during that game after having predicted a home win.
The Cowboys find themselves second in the NFC East table behind the Philadelphia Eagles. They are coming off the back of a 20-14 loss to the New York Jets. That was their first loss of the six-game-old season. Both sides will meet on November 5. The Cowboys currently have a 4-2 record. After playing the aforementioned clip, Stephen A. Smith provided some much-needed context.

Stephen A. Smith affirmed his love for Micah Parsons. He thought of Parsons as “the face of the franchise.” Smith opined he has the potential to be “the second coming of L.T.”, one of the best defensive players of all time. The 55-year-old analyst showered Parsons with praise, highlighting all his strengths. Simultaneously, he pointed out Parsons knew nothing of the subject he’d broached.
Stephen A. Smith admitted the Cowboys were an average franchise in his eyes. He said, “You want the Dallas Cowboys to be treated like everybody else? So do I. You want them to be treated like an average franchise. So do I! You ain’t won a d**n Super Bowl since 1995! So, I understand, Micah Parsons, if you want that. I get where you’re coming from. Makes perfect sense to me.”
Smith then looked up Parsons’ birthday to add further context. As he put it, “… the last time the Dallas Cowboys won a Super Bowl championship was four years before you were born. At least three-plus years before you were conceived!” Smith followed that with a tirade directed at the Cowboys’ fanbase.
“It’s all in good fun,” says Stephen A. Smith

Stephen A. Smith thought it unforgivable that Parsons defended the Cowboys’ fanbase. Smith said, “… they walk around, I’m talking about the Dallas Cowboys fanbase, walking around like they can pass gas and it’s really perfume, like Creed of Aventus or something! That’s how they walk around. And you sitting there trying to come to the defense of the Cowboy nation?” He concurred Parsons was justified in coming to the defense of his team, however.
Smith added while he has fun at the Cowboys’ expense, it was all in good fun. He admitted to having a cordial relationship with Jerry and Stephen Jones. Smith said, “I just hate Dallas Cowboys fans ‘cause I’m a native New Yorker … listening to Dallas Cowboys fans irritate my ears, it’s all in fun.” Stephen A. Smith reaffirmed his affection for Parsons.
