The Alabama Crimson Tide YouTube channel posted a video in 2016 showing a series of his power lifts. The caption read, “He might only be a freshman, but Jalen Hurts is one of the strongest people on the entire team… There aren’t many college quarterbacks that can squat more than some of their team’s linemen. Hurts, Alabama’s promising freshman quarterback, can”.
Even the coach of a rival team could not hold himself back. He told Hurts’ dad, after one of his Hurts’ high school powerlifting meets, “Man, your quarterback is stronger than our whole team”. It would be impressive even for a 300-pound lineman to squat 500 pounds. The Philadelphia Eagles QB was squatting 525 pounds as a sophomore and junior. He pushed that to 570 pounds in his last year in high school.
