In a twist of fate that could only be scripted on the gridiron, Jakobi Meyers found himself lining up against the very team that had once been his home. As the stadium lights bore down on him, the weight of the moment was palpable – a former Patriot, now a Raider, ready to prove his worth on the field of battle.

Adding another notch in the win column, he not only uplifted the team’s spirits but also earned him praise from none other than the analyst, former tight end, hall of fame, the man himself, Shannon Sharpe.

Shannon Sharpe praised him for his grit

Sharpe on his talk with Chad Johnson on the show Nightcap, seemed positive about Jakobi’s performance. Chad also quoted Jacobi and said, “I say you got to have somebody to pick up the slack if they gonna say you know what the Packers say Devante Adams is not going to win or beat us tonight and that’s exactly what they did and Jacobi Mayers stepped up and played a hell of a godamn game.”

Replying to Chad, Shannon Sharpe said, “And that’s what you have to have the guy on the opposite side when they take the number one away and the defence and you know what we reviewed the last 17.”

Adding further to his praise for Jakobi Meyers, he added, “We don’t believe anybody else can beat us, we know 17, coz he has a resume that says he is one of the best in the game and has the opportunity to be one of the best in the NFL history, and we know he can beat us. And Jakobi Meyers, if you can beat us. Oh! Well, we could walk to the sides and let you end up the game and tip our hats to you.”

Tipping the hat remark transcends Shannon Sharpe’s admiration for Jakobi Meyers for his performance.

The Game-Winning Showcase

Jakobi Meyers, the former New England Patriots wide receiver, now playing for the Raiders, made a crucial play during the week 15 game, that turned the tide in favour of the Raiders. The game tied at 24-24 when he received a lateral on the final play of regulation from Rhamondre Stevenson. Instead of running out the clock as planned, Meyers decided to throw another lateral, all the way back to quarterback Mac Jones.

The ball rather landed in the hands of former Patriot Chandler Jones, who returned the backward pass 48 yards for a touchdown to give the Aggressors the palm. This unexpected play left fans and players alike stunned and marked a memorable moment in NFL history.

His decision to throw a lateral back to Mac Jones, resulting in a game-winning touchdown for the Raiders, will be remembered as one of the most head-scratching yet effective plays in NFL history. As Sharpe’s praise suggests, Meyers’ performance has not only lifted the Raiders to their second win but also elevated his standing among NFL analysts and fans alike.
