Kansas City Chiefs’ tail end Travis Kelce is reportedly dating Taylor Swift. Speculation that the pair were dating first surfaced in July. Ever since, the rumors were further fueled by Swift attending two Chiefs games in succession. The pop star was present with Kelce’s friends and family as the Chiefs beat the Chicago Bears and the New York Jets. An image of the singer hugging Donna Kelce, the tail end’s mother, also did the rounds.

The NFL has many new fans following Taylor Swift’s appearance at those games. There was an increase in female viewership across age groups, as Stephen A. Smith pointed out on his show. Dave Portnoy, owner of Barstool Sports, had qualms about this romance. He considered one of the singer’s exes a better fit for her. Either way, he is singing a different tune.

Officially on board the Swift-Kelce romance

Travis Kelce was not Dave Portnoy’s first choice for dating Taylor Swift. The self-styled ‘El Presidente’ has been vocal on social media as the Swift-Kelse saga went on. He noted Kelce rated dating the singer as higher than winning a Super Bowl. The tail end claimed, as reported by People magazine, that he was on top of the world, as he was after Super Bowl victories, and then some. Incidentally, he won the Super Bowl on two occasions with the Chiefs. Most recently, the Chiefs bested the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 in a close game this year. The Chiefs were trailing 21-28 before the fourth quarter. Patrick Mahomes threw a pair of touchdowns and then a field goal put further distance between both sides.

Portnoy had gone on record as saying he thought actor Jake Gyllenhaal was a better match for Taylor Swift. The pair had famously dated briefly in 2010, according to People magazine. Following Kelce’s revelation, however, Portnoy gave the relationship his stamp of approval. ‘El Presidente’ is now officially on board the Kelce-Swift romance train.

Taylor Swift did not wish her beau

Travis Kelce turned 34 on October 5. Strangely enough, Taylor Swift did not post any birthday greetings on her social media. Swifties world over made it a point to wish the Chiefs’ tail end, though. Interestingly, Patrick Mahomes, his teammate and friend, also did not wish Kelce via social media.
